Maritzburg United talking to Sundowns trio Rodney Ramagalela, Abel Mabaso and Kwanda Mngonyana

Posted: 27 June 2014 Time: 15:53

Maritzburg United are in talks with Rodney Ramagalela, Abel Mabaso and Kwanda Mngonyana as they look to plug the gaps left by several player departures.

Club chairman Farouk Kadodia says that he will be unveiling “six or seven” new players by next month in the wake of a defensive shortage after Mario Booysen and Rheece Evans signed for Mamelodi Sundowns this week.

Three of those could be loan players from Sundowns, who have made striker Ramagalela and defenders Mabaso and Mngonyana available for discussions with Maritzburg.

“Those are three who we are interested in and we are currently in negotiations with them,” Kadodia tells KickOff.com.

Mabaso and Mngonyama spent last season on loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces and Bidvest Wits respectively, while Ramagalela would give coach Steve Komphela some much-needed strength and an extra option up front, where Maritzburg were desperately thin in the 2013/14 campaign.

Evans and Booysen were exceptional for Maritzburg under Komphela, and their departures along with that of Ruben Cloete to Bloemfontein Celtic mean that three of United’s first-choice back four have now left.

“There is no doubt that the defence is the biggest challenge for us right now,” acknowledges Kadodia. “But we are working on it and Steve has the situation under control.”

On losing two of his best players, Kadodia was philosophical.

“They were both fantastic servants to Maritzburg,” adds Kadodia. “But when you are dealing with a club like Sundowns it is difficult to stand in a player’s way.”

You sell to Downs and now want them to loan some players to you......they will give you the players and you have to sign on the contract that you will donate 6 points to Downs .......Downs are 6 points clear before the league even starts.

Enough Said !!!

what I like about this deal if it does happen is the fact that MU will be the once that are gaining something out from it ramagalela and mngonyama are far much more better than evans and booysens.

I don't believe this story, because Pitso is said to rate Mngonyama highly, and promised him game time. that was mentioned on our website. kadoda must just say he wishes that he gets the player, and I don't think that pitso will let the boy go.

Beerginner He did not score enough goals as a striker. Secondly, he does not show flair and comfort on the ball that we are accustomed to. He over-relies to his pace to some point that we end up blackmailed by doing long balls to him, only for him to not take advantage of his primary strong point.

Take Mahoota for example. He did not score so many goals for us but he had fine touches on the ball. That is what we want. He is intelligent. Set pieces ... he comes to the party. It is not about the wrong you do that make you to be loaned out, it is about how good you are compared to the rest of your teammates.

Tired of same faces moving from one team to another... Can't our (south African) players go to other leagues..? Egypt, Tunisia or Even Algeria... This MAYBE, might help Bafana since big European leagues seem not to rate our league and players standards high.

Players Agents, wake up gents... You might be the solution to the downfall of bafana. Coaches, SAFA and players have failed.
