University of Pretoria waiting on Raymond Monama

Posted: 24 June 2014 Time: 10:31

The decision whether Raymond Monama will remain at Mamelodi Sundowns or join University of Pretoria for the 2014/15 season will be made this week.

AmaTuks coach Steve Barker is eager to continue with the former Black Leopards midfielder, who had a loan spell with the side last season.

However, the decision will rest on the shoulders of Pitso Mosimane, who is yet to decide whether the player is in his plans for the upcoming season.

“We are having a meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns this week and they will inform us about their decision regarding Monama,” Barker tells KickOff.com. “We are hoping for good news, but the decision is really up to them.”

Barker, who has just begun pre-season training with his players, also revealed that his players will have a busy schedule ahead of the start of the season.

“We have not yet arranged friendly matches with other clubs but we are looking into this,” he says. “The players will be assesses on match situations when we play against our varsity teams in July.

“These teams will be involved in a tournament so this will give us a chance to work on a number of aspects of our game.”
