WIts target Nazeer Allie to remain at Ajax Cape Town

Ajax Cape Town have emphasised that Nazeer Allie will remain at the club despite Bidvest Wits’ continued interest in the former youth international.

Allie could have moved to Wits at the beginning of last season but a groin injury halted the move.

With the 29-year-old having made his way to playing again during the second half of the past season, there has been talk that the move up north could be re-ignited.

But according to Ajax, Allie will stay for as long as possible because he is firmly in the club’s plans.

”Nazeer is still under contract with us and is firmly in our plans going forward. We would actually like him to stay on with us for as long as possible,” Ajax boss Ari Efstathiou tells KickOff.com.

Allie has only ever played for the Urban Warriors since making his PSL debut during the 2004/05 season.

Efstathiou – whose team started pre-season training on Monday – adds that they are in the market to strengthen their squad.

“We are looking at a variety of players because we need to strengthen our squad. We have already identified players that we will need but we are still working on bringing all those players in,” he adds.
