Chippa United release goalkeeper Mzimela, midfielder Shumana

Posted: 6 June 2014 Time: 14:02

Chippa United have decided against extending the contracts of goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela and midfielder Mfundo Shumana.

Mzimela, formerly with AmaZulu, and Shumana, who played most of his football at Ajax Cape Town, will both leave the PSL returnees after making minor contributions this past season.

The club have also confirmed keeper Sean Roberts has left Philippi Stadium as he seeks a return to Europe. He follows in the wake of recently released pair Solomon Okpako and Brent Carelse.

United have indicated they are on the hunt for another set of keepers with topflight experience.

I think leadership of Calvin Marlen can stabilise the defence if he can be brought on board as at Aces it doesn't seem he is needed and what happened to Onyango last time he was one of good goal keepers then if he can get one of these he can aquire a young goal keeper who will learn from the experienced
