Benson Mhlongo to leave Platinum Stars

Posted: 19 May 2014 Time: 09:01

Platinum Stars have decided against renewing veteran defender Benson Mhlongo’s contract.

The former Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates player has played a key role in Dikwena’s success over the last two seasons, winning both the Telkom Knockout and the MTN8.

However, it seems the two parties have failed to agree on terms for a new deal, leaving the 33-year-old free to join another club when his contract expires next month.

“Mhlongo met with club management last week but couldn’t agree on the contract,” a KickOff.com source says. “He is now moving on with his life.”

Meanwhile, veteran Namibian striker Henrico Botes will also leave the club when his contract expires in June.

Mess around with Khoza wena and you'll see monkeys flying.I lost all respect I had for this guy. I don't celebrate other people's misfortunes but this guy deserves all the bad coming to him.

Platinum Stars will regret releasing or selling good players. They may find themselves fighting relegation next season. As for Mhlongo, I wish him all the best in finding a new team.

Next time we will hear that he is begging Khoza to return to the team to retire like Vilakazi. Players should learn that teams are the same, and it is not good to diss your former cos of little glory you have recently achieved. What he said re Pirates was uncalled for, and I doubt that influenced Platinum stars decision. I lost respect of this guy.

Ay that one you will find it in your local news paper, Mhlongo wont do that, why should he go back to Khoza? Pirates is not the only tem in SA, there are so many teams after his signature.

He must go back eOrlando and play for 2 or 3 Season's. If Legkwathi can make it wish means Mhlongo can do it more than ever. Love & Peace.

This fool that was saved from a career ending injury by Pirates should have not attacked his former team in the 1st place, this is what you get in this industry. I cautioned most bloggers that Mhlongo is digging his grave but them fools argued that he was brave & had a right to speak what he likes.

Let's hope his next meal will come from the rights he abused.
