Black Leopards edge Milano United in promotion play-off

Posted: 18 May 2014 Time: 16:57

Maboke Matlakala scored the winner as Black Leopards beat Milano United 2-1 in a promotion play-off at Giyani Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Taariq Fielies had scored at both ends in the first half before Matlakala got the winner in the 53rd minute.

Leopards took an early lead when Fielies put Rendani Ndou’s cross past his own goalkeeper.

Lidoda Duvha continued to dominate as Milano hardly saw any off the ball, with Siphelele Ntshangase twice sending low shots wide of goal.

But against the run of play the visitors leveled on 32 minutes – and it was Fielies who redeemed himself; the defender sending a looping header from Abdul Jacobs’ free-kick into the back of the net.

Westen van der Linde produced an excellent save to deny Mumuni Abubakar on 50 minutes, but he could do nothing to keep out Maboke Matlakala’s shot from the edge of the area three minutes later.

Milano had a rare attack on 67 minutes when Leopards keeper David Mokhasi kept out Junaid Sait header, but they were unable to get the equaliser.

That means Leopards go to the top of the standings, followed by Polokwane City. Milano are last following one draw and one defeat.

Well done Leopards , we don't want the Milanos of this world , clubs that have no supporters to add to PSL . u SEE cHIPPA United is bringing supporters to the League . Not teams like Cosmos and Milano , they do not bring any vibe in the League bcos they have no supporters . Pierats won something yesterday but there is hardly a notice that something happened . The other day some club won the League but many of us were busy getting ready to go and vote . We did not even NOTICE that kukhona abawine iLeague

Poor clubs , the do not have a huge support base that Chiefs has that is why I believe Baxter is not a Chiefs Coach material

@ khosi4lifee ,This is the most stupid comment I ever read in this blogg , I mean as much as I am suporting leopard for this tournament, to say " we dont want milanos ..." it is an insult to people who support Milano.

U went on to say that pirates , won yesterday and " there is nothing happened" as far as I noticed yesterday, pirates went to Durban in numbers to support thier team. Moses mabhida was painted , red black and white. What more do U expect.

In stead of congratulation sundowns for winning the league, U R bitter. They did very well as a team, motsepe has invested so much on sundowns, and also including youth development.

Last paragraph is a nonsence, dont want to comment about it.

Well done black leopards.  Win and and a draw will be enough to go through. Milan lost 5 out of 12 already. If you beat PKK City, they will be left with an opportunity to go to a maximum of seven. To be safe, another 2 wins will be enough.
