PSL Match Report: FS Stars 1-1 Pirates

Free State Stars salvaged a 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates on Tuesday night, with on-loan striker Richard Henyekane netting a last-gasp equaliser at Charles Mopeli Stadium.
Henyekane beat the offside trap to score in the 90th minute after Ayanda Gcaba had given Pirates the lead against his former side.
It means Stars still trail Polokwane City in the safety of 14th spot by two points going into Saturday’s final round of fixtures, which sees Ea Lla Koto travel to Moroka Swallows and City make the journey to SuperSport United.
The game never lived up to any great heights and perhaps a point was a fair result as both sides battled to find their rhythm.
Henyekane should have given his side the lead in the first half when he almost scored twice in 10 seconds. First he found himself one-on-one with Senzo Meyiwa in the Pirates goal but saw his shot saved, and when the return ball came in he did not move quick enough to turn it into an empty net.
The opening goal finally came on 69 minutes and it was a poor one for Stars to concede. Khethokwakhe Masuku’s long ball was headed home by Gcaba, but Ayanda Mtshali in the home goal should never have been beaten in the air.
It looked as though that was how it was going to finish until Henyekane raced clear to slip the ball past Meyiwa.
