PSl Match Report: Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 Ajax Cape Town

Posted: 6 May 2014 Time: 19:27

Goals from Mogogi Gabonamong and Lerato Lamola secured a crucial three points for Bloemfontein Celtic as they beat Ajax Cape Town 2-1 on Tuesday night.

Mosa Lebusa opened the scoring for the visitors early in the first half, but Celtic fought back brilliantly in the second half in Bloemfontein.
The result took Siwelele to fifth place on the table, highlighting the fantastic 2014 the club have enjoyed as they look to keep their top-eight place on the final day of the season.
It did not take long at all for the first chance of the game when, after 11 minutes, Celtic’s Malawian striker Hellings Frank Mhango blasted his free-kick effort over the bar following a foul on Davies Nkausu.
And just four minutes later Ajax Cape Town went ahead when Mosa Lebusa latched onto the end of a Cecil Lolo cross and head the ball into the net for the first goal of the night across all seven PSL games.
Then Ajax keeper Anssi Jaakkola reacted well to save from Limbikani Mzava in the 21st minute before Alfred Ndengane put his header over the bar from the resultant corner-kick.
Just before half-time Celtic got forward and had a good chance on goal when Limbikani Mzava’s cross found Nkausu, but his shot was skewed wide of goal.
Ten minutes after the half-time break and Clayton Daniels saw his header hit the upright from Lyle Lakay’s supply.
But then Celtic struck twice in the space of a minute with goals from Gabonamong and Lamola.
Gabonamong netted with his right foot following good work by Mhango before Lamola buried his opportunity from close range.
Tasreeq Morris came close to an equaliser for Ajax inside the final 10 minutes when his attempt flew wide of the woodwork.
Celtic held on to make sure of the points and climb further up the Premiership table.
