Mamelodi Sundowns left back Mzikayise Mashaba will keep calm

Posted: 29 April 2014 Time: 18:09

Mamelodi Sundowns left back Mzikayise Mashaba says it is vital that the team keeps calm as the season draws to a close.

The Brazilians top the standings with 61 points after 28 matches, while their nearest rivals Kaizer Chiefs have 56 points from 27 matches and Mashaba, who has been one of Sundowns’ outstanding performances, cautions that it is not over until the final whistle of the final match.

“Obviously the anxiety has shot up the roof, so we just wait and see,” he admits

“In sport that’s how it is , so we will always have the nerves so we just have to calm down and just win,” he adds.

Sundowns’ next match is against SuperSport United on May 6 at Loftus Stadium.

Let's talk after we cut your lead to two points tommorow. Let,s see if you will handle the pressure. You have a well documented history of cracking under pressure. Let's see if things will be different this time.

The more recent chocking history is that by Chiefs which saw them bag 4 points in the last 4 games.

Kickoff you are really trying hard to destabilize our camp, so you went to Mashaba just to get two sentences: 1. “Obviously the anxiety has shot up the roof, so we just wait and see,” he admits

2. “In sport that’s how it is , so we will always have the nerves so we just have to calm down and just win,” he adds.

Please leave our boys alone and push your agenda after the 10th of May.

What a genius you are. So Kinnah Phiri didn't have plans all along ? Where was his plan when he lost to Aces during the weekend ?

In the next couple of weeks boys will be separated from men, only those with the nerves of steel will finish the race victors.

Kickoff seems to hat Bucs and Downs and I wonder why...:

Last year when Bucs was on the verge of winning the 2nd star, we had all sorts of negative stories from the Bucs camp, sinister forces part 1 to 3, how the star in unimportant and even Mvela teams can have it, Roger and crazy fans etc....

This time around their focus is on the Mighty Downs, misquoting Pitso's words, linking downs with all players like in the past and literally trying to belittle the management of Downs and patronising them.

Thieves on the other hand never disappoint in disappointing the nation, taking their fans for granted.

Kickoff + Chiefs= Nyoso

I think ppl are over looking what this guy is saying. What ever is saying is true and that is what will be a decider weather Downs win the league or not. Control nerves or be able to deal with pressure and win the league. Ppl must always remember what happened to Ajax, pressure and Nerves killed them and I know one will say Downs is not Ajax but soccer always thought us a new lesson

Chief have shown that nerves have got the better of them. Out of nine points they managed to secure only one point. Unfortunate, statistic do not lie. Frankly Chief looks the shadow of their former self. They have been booted out of champion's league and immediate bowed out of conf. They have also surrendered their advantage in the chaise for PSL championship. Thou they remain in the hunt. Sundowns on the other side have utilized the advantage of having bigger pool of players by keeping consistent. It's only two games to go, anything is still possible. However Sundowns are in the driving seat. The league is their to lose.
