Keegan Ritchie hopes to be back to help Czech side Slavia Prague stave off relegation in the final few weeks of the season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs left-back injured the ligaments in his ankle and has not featured for the team since the end of March.
But with the club having five games remaining in the season and in desperate need of points having slipped into the relegation zone, Ritchie is chomping at the bit to return.
“I am really hopeful of being back for the last three or four games,” he told KickOff.com from Prague. “It was a pity for me to get injured when I did as I had played in five games in a row up to that point and was feeling good.
“But I then tore the ligaments in my ankle when I twisted it and so it has been a frustrating time on the sidelines.”
Slavia Prague, the second most successful side in Czech football history after city rivals Sparta, and who were league champions as recently as 2009, have hit hard times this season and are one of six clubs battling not to finish in the bottom two.
Four of their remaining five games are against teams in similar peril, meaning there fate is very much in their own hands.
