Kaizer Chiefs vs Asec Mimosas CAF Confederations Cup

Posted: 20 April 2014 Time: 14:33

Kaizer Chiefs have it all to do in the second leg of their CAF Confedartions Cup match against Asec Mimosas following a 2-1 defeat at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Amakhosi's apparent lack of interest in the tie was reflected in the starting line-up, but they would still have backed themselves to get a positive result at home.

However, goals from Zagbayou Eurand and Boua Koffi Davy - either side of Matthew Rusike's goal - sees the Ivorian holding all the aces.

Chiefs dominated from the first whistle, but it was Koffi Stevens, the Asec midfielder, who almost scored in the fifth minute with a shot from outside the box after Reneilwe Letsholonyane lost possession.

Chiefs had a chance of their own in the 11th minute when some good play by George Lebese led to a pass to Rusike, but the striker's shot was saved by Sangare Bodra and the follow-up shot by Mandla Masango went wide.

Asec then opened the scoring in the 36th minute through Zagbayou Eurand after he finished off a thrown in.

Lebese didn't return for second half after appearing to struggle with a leg injury and was replaced by Philani Cele.

Eleven minutes into the second half Masango almost found the equaliser, but his well-executed free-kick was tipped over the bar by the visiting goalkeeper.

To make matters worse for Chiefs, Asec players were falling offer the place trying to waste time.

In fact, it took all of 86 minutes for Chiefs to get on the scoresheet with Rusike smashing the ball home on the half-volley to draw Chiefs level.

However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Boauh scored with the last kick off the game, giving Amakhosi an uphill battle in west Africa if they hope to reach the group stages.

Chiefs XI: Pieterse, Gordinho, Mtsweni, Bukenya, Gould, Letsholonyane, Masango, Baloyi, Lebese, Nkosi, Rusike

Asec XI: Sangare, Zagbayou, Soumahoro, Nvondo, Stevens, Sekyere, I Kone, A Kone, Bouah, Sakanoko, Fofana

If caf suspends chiefs for undermining the competition, they wud deserve it. Chiefs value getting a win against Plk city more than proving their worth across the continent. If teams continue wth better than all attitude will nevr get anywhere. Then we get shocked when we loose to Zimbabwe

They only enjoy saying sundowns is killing BB. Well because of your sisy mentality BB will always b a sissy team that cant even win against any african team. Hope now u know that it takes an effort from all local teams to build bafana.

Right now, You are the one doing the killing, but then i expect very few these hypos to see it because the rest are just sissies who wud rather cry and complain than face the naked truth.

When we lost to AS VITA,we were given a spot to play in the CCC,people were very loud on how this competition is for small boys, now Chiefs fielded small boys and they lost the match, again people are complaining about how Chiefs are looking down on Caf competitions.

Kanti what do people want mara?

We are qualifying for the Champions League now for next year, with or without a league medal so we can be in Africa again. My wish is for Pirates to earn a spot in Caf next year by either playing in the final of nedbank cup against Chiefs or winning it against any other club.We will be talking the same language that you guys are speaking to us now.

Chiefs run their affairs their way and the rest of the clubs run their clubs as they wish and has a problem with that?

Chiefs decided to field that squad.none of the players is playing in the reserve, those were the first team players almost the same players won against buffalos.

Hence Chiefs are the semifinal of the nedbank cup.

Spot on Khosi lam, this hypocrites wants KC to be ran the way they want. they always mingle thier business in ours. they can go to hell for all i care. they pretend that they care while they dont...

Basically they are sayin Mr Baxter field your best starting X1, let them get beaten, get tired n lose focus on the lig. We will run our team the way we want depending on the situation at hand...

Forward we go
