Mamelodi Sundowns moved six points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership after a 1-0 win away to Moroka Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday evening.
Teko Modise scored the only goal of the match in the seventh minute with a beautiful drive into the top-left corner after Hlompho Kekana's initial effort was blocked.
The win is the Brazilians’ ninth in a row and opens up clear daylight between them and second-placed Kaizer Chiefs, who still have two games in hand.
As for the Birds, it is a fourth successive defeat and a 10th loss from 14 League matches since the turn of the year. They remain in 13th, six points clear of the relegation zone.
Sundowns will next be in League action when they host Tshwane rivals SuperSport United in a week’s time, while Swallows are away to Polokwane City the following day.
