Manto Moholo scored a deflected goal as Golden Arrows kept their slim hopes of staying in the top-flight alive following a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
Hellings Mhango fired the visitors ahead a few minutes into the second half before the on-loan Orlando Pirates man leveled matters.
Arrows went into the match knowing that a win was non-negotiable, but it was Celtic who started stronger as Arthur Bartman had to palm away a long-range effort from Wandisile Letlabika.
Lerato Lamola also came close for the visitors in the 10th minute, but a last-ditch Siyanda Zwane tackle prevented a goal.
Arrows then created a couple of chances of their own, with Festus Mbewe sending his overhead attempt wide of goal in the 16th minute, while Moholo fired straight at Patrick Tignyemb six minutes later.
Bartman had to be alert against to stop a low shot from Frank Mhango in the 26th minute, before denying the same player nine minutes later.
The opening goal came in the 56th minute when Mhango controlled a square pass from Tumelo Mogapi inside the box before placing his shot into the bottom right corner.
However, Arrows equalised in the 65th minute when Moholo received a pass from Bongi Ntuli outside the box before beating Tignyemb with the aid of a deflection.
The visitors almost restored their lead a minute later, but Bartman made a good save at his near-post to keep out a solid strike from Lamola.
Celtic were reduced to 10 men in the 75th minute when Mogapi was given his marching orders following a dangerous tackle on Thanduyise Khuboni.
Arrows almost made it count late on, but Mbewe’s shot was cleared off the line as Abafana Best’hende remain bottom of the standings, nine points behind Free State Stars and Polokwane City.
