Injured Mamelodi Sundowns pair Billiat, Mashaba wait for scan results

Posted: 14 April 2014 Time: 16:38

Mamelodi Sundowns should find out on Tuesday how long they will be without injured duo Khama Billiat and Mzikayise Mashaba.

The pair, who have been ruled out of Wednesday's League clash with Mpumalanga Black Aces, sustained knocks in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final loss to Orlando Pirates at the weekend.

“Both players had scans and we will receive medical reports on how long they will be out for tomorrow,” Sundowns communications director Thulani Thuswa tells KickOff.com.

Billiat suffered a recurrence of a foot injury he picked up at training in February and left the field before the break at Loftus Stadium. The speedy winger missed five matches due to the complaint before making his comeback in a recent League match against Kaizer Chiefs.

Mashaba damaged his groin against Bucs and was replaced by Tebogo Langerman in the second half.

The Brazilians will also be minus suspended attackers Lebohang Mokoena and Bongani Zungu when they welcome AmaZayoni.

Its a blessing in disguise exception of Lebogang Mokoena. Bongani Zungu his contribution has been far below par recently the less said about favourites boys Kama and Mashaba the better. Pitso is be blamed here he forced them back on the field with half healed injuries thus aggravating their injuries. Mark my words he will say the squard is thin without Kama, that is why he is looking to sign Lindokuhle Mbatha as a cover for Billiat.

Do you ever attend Sundowns training? May be punch has a bad working ethic or attitude. we do not know. i think as supporters we should support our teams not select players for coaches.

SisterP Thank you for being cluefull & correcting clueless @GACHENI. Langerman is the most underrated player by supporters by the coaches value him so much, he was ofetn let down by MOON who used to not mark players but spaces resulting in crosses that need to be dealt by Langerman & goalkeeper eg he let Helder Pelembe cross a ball that exposed Mashaba & Masuku punished us. As for Punch i dont know why the coach does not  use him but Langerman is good. Mashaba is not a defender, hecan do wonders if he can be used as a left winger.

Mgqwabeni  We already have a cover for Billiat, that Nigerian guy who will be joining Downs in June l think his name is Ejike the guy is brilliant. i agree with the point that Mashaba is not a defender but looking at his performances from that left back position would u blame the coaches for putting him there his been phenomenal thus far.

Mgqwabeni Billiat is brilliant no doubt about it. its unfortunate that he is injured. Mashaba is very good but not a left back Pitso should use him on wings, LEFT WING, he can tear any defence apart.
