Mashaba injury boost for Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 8 April 2014 Time: 10:03

Mamelodi Sundowns fullback Mzikayise Mashaba is set to make a speedy return after suffering a gash to his leg in the 1-0 win over title rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.

Mashaba, who was forced off just before the break against Chiefs, had a scan yesterday - which confirmed no serious damage.

"He suffered an open wound, he went for an X-ray which came back fine, it's bruised [the bone], not cracked," says Downs official Thulani Thuswa.

"After the next game, he should be available."

The Brazilians host Bloemfontein Celtic in the League on Wednesday before tackling Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Mashaba, in any event, will serve a one-game ban tomorrow after picking up a fourth booking against Amakhosi. Midfield enforcer Hlompho Kekana is also suspended.

In other team news, Elias Pelembe and Rodney Ramagalela are still working on their fitness levels, while Zambian recruit Mukuka Mulenga has started full training again after undergoing ankle surgery earlier in the season.

My Blood is Yellow I think Pitso should play Billiat and rest Cheese boy for Pirates game. He is going to give our defenders a very tough time. I last watched Pirates when they played swallows but this weekend i'm going to make time to watch the game. V V must start with 2 strikers and use wing play more often, it will bear results soon.

@My Blood is Yellow, Thats the best starting XI but Pitso prefer Tebogo Langerman over Punch Masenamela.

My Blood is Yellow good line up, but replace Tau with Sumaila as back up for our defence (for bus parking purposes).

Welcome back boy, time to separate boys from man. Today we will be skinning these celtic defenders like nobody's business while other dimwits will be praying for our lose.

I used to underestimate this boy too much, but having looked and watched him recently, all I can say wow,he's a pure gem.big up boy.Wits made a mistake by letting you go. Anyhow I wix you can miss our game against Sundowns on Saturday, because I know when Langerman has the ball, we already know where he's gonna kick it.

44passes sandawana187  a true gem sandawana! his first touch is out of this world, almost like Zungu but faster and skillfull,he goes through defenders like hot knife.Mulenga was the player of the tourament (Cosafa) I believe he is the most talented player in our squad,i heard he is training with the 1st team and i know he can play 15 to 30 minutes becos he is young
