Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker Teko Modise is hopeful Mzikayise Mashaba can recover swiftly from injury, saying the full-back "has been doing great for the team".
Mashaba was due to have a scan today after sustaining a knock in the 1-0 win over title rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.
"Muzi has been doing great for the team," Modise said on his official website.
"He has shown signs of maturity to his play and I think he did well in his overlapping to create chances.
"We are lucky to have a full-back that does what he does and I hope he recovers in time for the next match."
Mashaba is, nevertheless, suspended - along with midfield enforcer Hlompho Kekana - for Wednesday's league clash with Bloemfontein Celtic. Downs will afterwards host Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Modise expressed confidence the Brazilians can extend their seven-game winning run in the League with five to go. Log leaders Chiefs are narrowly ahead on goal difference, but with a match in hand.
"Since the beginning of the season the spirit has always been great," Modise said. "We have no issues when it comes to that. As a result of this we have been getting the results.
"We are going to try to do our best to go on and win as many games as we can. This is a difficult task for us, but we have the mental strength to continue on the winning path."
