Chippa United beat Black Leopards in First Division

Posted: 4 April 2014 Time: 22:25

Chippa United moved 10 points clear at the top of the First Division standings after a 1-0 win against Black Leopards at Phillip Stadium on Friday night.

Siyabulela Shai scored the only goal of the match early on, though Lidoda Duvha were not without their chances.

Chippa had the first opportunity in the fifth minutes when Leopards failed to clear a corner, resulting in Djunga Munganga almost putting the ball into his on net.

Shortly afterwards the visitors’ Rendani Ndou forced a good save from Sean Roberts.

However, it was Chippa who took the lead when Leopards keeper Jacob Makhosi failed to hang onto Doctor Mapura’s long-range shot, allowing Shai to score from the rebound.

Andile Mbenyane then had a chance to double the lead from a corner, but his header went wide.

Leopards played a lot better in the second half, but were unable to break down the Chippa defence and had to resort to long-range shots which Roberts had no problems dealing with.

George Akpabio had a great chance to make it 2-0 late on when he had a clear chance on goal but Mokhasi tipped his shot over the bar.

So Chippa are well clear of the chasing pack, while Leopards remain in second place, though both Baroka FC and Jomo Cosmos can overtake them this weekend.

Woza Chili Boys, we don't like your management style but your drama is welcome. You and Pitso will make headlines week in week out.

Having been following NFD I realised that Chippa appointed a good technical team especially Peter Kotraulis he knows football although he is only associated with tycoons. Chippa and Black Aces are the new era of South African football. Chippa is using Madrid and Chelsea, Man City model of using money to buy success and so far its working the only question is how deep is his pocket compared to the other psl teams. We now know that sundowns pocket is deep.

@fulufhelia the only problem Chippa has following that model is sustaining it. Man City's bankrollers are buying assets and developing the greater Manchester area with sustaining the club in the long run in mind.

Real Madrid is an organization and has no owner. Every single share is available to the club supporters and can never be accumulated by one owner. They make more football business revenue than any other club in world football. Hence the share in Football publication Marca, and of course The Bank of Madrid.

In SA its different. No single club owns a stadium or has the full title rights to it, NO REVENUE! We lease stadiums at huge costs, clubs have no assets and sponsorship deals aren't that great.

Chippa Utd is been bankrolled by its owner. When the money dry's up then what will happen to the club? Its risky
