Foreign strikers doing the business in the PSL

Posted: 4 April 2014 Time: 14:36

Mpumalanga Black Aces striker Tendai Ndoro has scored more League goals in 10 games than most of the other strikers in the PSL have scored all season.

The Zimbabwean marksman made his debut for Amazayoni on February 12 and since then has found the net six times, which already puts him within four goals of the top scorer in the Premiership – Bernard Parker on 10 goals.

Ndoro, who was the Zimbabwean League's top scorer with 18 goals last year, says he wants to win the PSL Golden Boot award next season … but he could even do it this season!

Besides Ndoro, foreign players are dominating the scoring charts in the PSL. Knowledge Musona (8), Atusaye Nyondo (7), Robert Ng'ambi (7), Kingston Nkhatha (6), Hellings Mhango (6) are joined by several other foreigners on four or five goals each.

Yesterday we wrote a story about how poorly South African strikers are performing in the Premiership – READ: 'SA strikers make keepers look good' – so it makes sense that most of the goals are coming from the boots of our African neighbours.

Earlier this year revealed that out of 499 players registered in the PSL, 106 players (20 percent) are of foreign descent – READ: Parreira says foreigners harming Bafana – making the fact that foreigners are scoring more goals than South Africans look even worse.

What do you make of the impact of foreign strikers in the PSL? Is it harming the progress of South African strikers? Join the debate in the comments or on Facebook!

This story is coming back for the second time this week. Do not be surprised to see a head line saying Pirates win the treble.

Not if Trott and his company have it their way you wont. Let's look at Dove Wome for instance. he was the finest player before he went there. Today he is just another optional player.

My point is they have been in the PSL for more than 2years and they are yet to break 10goals in a season. This guy came in Feb and he has 6 already, who knows where he would have been had he came at the start of the season.

Glamour Kidd how long was Parker in PSL before he came back from overseas, signed for Chiefs and only scored 4 goals in his 1st season for Chiefs?how many times has Majoro given us 10 goals+ in PSL,how many seasons does he have in PSL?why cant u afford Major and Erasmus the same opportunity that was given to Parker?

i wont be surprised if Tendai Ndoro scores only one goal in the remaining fixtures..he is now known by PSL coaches and players..a special attention will be given to him...for me he is in the same league as Pelembe of Pirates...the difference is that too much noise was made about Pelembe while this guy went on unnoticed..until now...
