Premier Soccer League match report: Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 Golden Arrows

Posted: 2 April 2014 Time: 18:44

Kaizer Chiefs moved three points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the summit following a 2-0 win over bottom club Golden Arrows at Soccer City on Wednesday night

Amakhosi, who face Downs at the same venue on Saturday, prevailed through second-half goals from Mulomowandau Mathoho and Kingston Nkhatha.

Chiefs dominated possession from the onset but were unable to break down a resolute Arrows outfit in the opening stanza, with ex-Glamour Boys goalkeeper Arthur Bartman making a fine save at his near post to deny Siboniso Gaxa just before the recess.

The hosts, however, stole ahead in the 53rd minute, when Mathoho headed in a superb inswinging free-kick from the right by Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Stuart Baxter's men doubled their advantage 16 minutes later, as the hard-working Nkhatha squeezed his left-footed shot past Bartman from a tight angle after linking up nicely with Bafana Bafana fullback Tsepo Masilela.

Chiefs played out the latter stages in relative comfort to hand ailing Abafana Bes'thende their sixth straight defeat in the League.

Maluleka is lacking something...either its the cohesion because he is still new, but he was not linking with his team mates. Dont get me wrong he is a good playa, but Yeye has something, an understanding with Parker and Shabba. Only if Yeye could add Maluleke's diagonal passes to his game.

I also noticed how Nkosi had the same problem, maybe lack of speed and game time. There was a pass from parker, chiefs were on the break and nkosi wanted the ball to be played to his feet instead of space. If you are on a break, its all about speed, precise interchange of passes and get to opponent box within seconds....saturday we play against orlando sundowns...its a 6 pointer....sishaya both of them and take 6 points...!!!

Isicefe i believe Maluleka and Killer will only b sharp next season because they will b with the team come pre-season camps where they will be inducted with the coach's philosophy properly....... he and yeye are two different players because yeye likes to move forward with the ball on his feet and Maluleka keeps it simple and rarely gives away position.....

You guys from the so called"'Family Bussiness FC" whats the use of your team winning the lig, your team failed the country against a lowly AS Vita team last week and you want to go back again to embarrass the whole Country again??come one,one thing for sure is that Asec Mimosa will take you to clearners,so m still saying that Sundowns must wallop and wipe your ass on Saturday, besides you talk too much.
