Sundowns’ appeal on Torrealba ruling postponed

Posted: 25 June 2009 Time: 01:39 pm

Mamelodi Sundowns appeal against the Dispute Resolution Chamber decision to declare Venezuelan striker Jose Torrealba a free agent has been postponed again.

The Safa Appeal Board was scheduled to hear the appeal on Saturday, however it has now been postponed to November 18.

The DRC declared that the extension to Torrealba’s contract that Sundowns hold is invalid after hand writing experts proved that the signature on the contract was forged.

PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu has confirmed that the Brazilians appeal has been postponed but could not reveal the reasons.

“Safa are the only ones that can give you that information as the case now in their hands. The only thing I can confirm is that the case will now be heard on November 18.”

I am of the breath that Jose Torealba does not want to be part of Sundowns family and that the earlier he leaves our minds, the better. But I hate the fact that in february this year it was announced on Sundowns.com that he renewed the contract. He knew of this until he decided that he got another offer and called the initial a forgery. Such players should be banned in football because they label Sundowns as Bad in the public eye. Unfortunately any of the teams he want to join, are not having any pedigree Sundowns have. LET HIM GO. He only scored seven goals last season. We are not loosing a powerful figure. Go Torealba Go. Don't come back Torealba, don't come back!!!!

Did Sundowns pay Jose a signing-on fee when he renewed his contract? If yes then he must pay it back and they give him his clearance so that he can go and warm the bench

Sundowns must just let Jose got, it is not worth it fighting for someone who is not willing to work or play for you, it is like forcing someone to love you, let it go Downs just swallow your pride and move on there is life after Jose you've so far reached two finals without him

The President of Sundowns stated boldly that he does not need Jose Torealba in his team.So why appeal the verdict Sundowns?Or is it pride of defeat in stake?

Its sad to see Sheppard with a broken leg & also sad to see that ACE NGCOBO again almost spoiled a good game, I'm worried as a Sundowns supporter, our defends is licking hence OJ Mabizela needs to be brought in at centre back, can someone please tell IGESUND as well that Elias Ngwepe is a quality player so why waste Chabangu on the left when he can score for us, It saddens me to have two foreign strikers cause at sundowns positions are wasted like that.

Torrealba's signature was forged cause there is no smoke without fire, give him his goestes & let him GO 2010 is here & we need a local good striker, after all he wasn't a Fani Madi or Mbesuma.

I agree with Njabulo. Jose obviously received the signing on fee when he renewed the contract. This should be a valid prove that he is still a Sundowns player. If he never received anything, then they should just let him go.

I just cant believe that the forgers want this to go on and on and on. If they win the case will they force Jose to kick the ball for them? Perhaps their retionale behind this appeal is "principle"...oops they do not have any principle!
