PSL Match Report Sundowns keep pressure on Chiefs

Posted: 30 March 2014 Time: 15:28

Goals by Anthony Laffor and Lebohang Mokoena secured a 2-1 win for Mamelodi Sundowns over University of Pretoria at Loftus Stadium on Sunday.

The win moved Downs level on points with Kaizer Chiefs but the Amakhosi still lead the pack due to their superior goal difference.
Meanwhile Atusaye Nyondo scored for AmaTuks.
Both coaches made only one change to their sides as they placed faith in the players who have been racking up the results for their respective outfits in recent weeks.
Kennedy Mweene returned between the sticks in place of the injured Wayne Sandilands for the Brazilians while Tebogo Monyai returned to the starting XI for Tuks. Siyabonga Ngubane dropped to the bench while Buhle Mkhwanazi shifted into the midfield.
Sundowns dominated the possession stats in the opening half an hour but Tuks looked dangerous on the counter attack.
Surprise Moriri’s opportunist effort from the halfway line in the 31st minute almost caught Washington Arubi off guard but the Zimbabwean keeper tracked back swiftly to spare his blushes.
Atusaye Nyondo and Dove Wome went close on either side of the park in quick succession before Anthony Laffor struck for the Brazilians.

Hlompho Kekana picked out the Liberian who nodded past Washington Arubi to net his fifth goal of the campaign.
Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 leaders at the break.
Nyondo squared things up in the 63rd minute. The Malawain latched onto a flick-on by Buhle Mkhwanazi from a long throw-in to head home his seventh goal of the campaign.
Sundowns struck back almost immediately through Mokoena after getting onto Bongani Zungu’s pinpoint cross to nod in from close range to net his third goal in as many games.
The win moves Sundowns level on points with Kaizer Chiefs but the Amakhosi have a superior goal difference.

Even if we forfeit the 2 games we still have, they are still number 2, just like they were in Christmas!

I plead with all Chiefs fans to show how enlightened and educated we are when it comes to football. We must never say anything about games in hand like our noisy neighbors do when they are 15 points behind the leaders. Let us behave as if we have played 5 games more than Marabastad FC and let us also pretend that we are a few points behind them. And to make our haters celebrate even more let us also pretend that at this point we are sitting somewhere on position 4.

A much anticipated three points really appreciated! Wow. Congratulations boys, job well done. Taking one game at the time, it's very important. A gap, from 12 points, 9, 6, 3 and now zero, wow! We go to soccer city with a high spirit on weekend to cause a havoc.

I am sure Baxter will tell the Lads not to lose focus and make sure 3 points and more goals are collected from Arrows game...But its not going to be easy but probable.

Top of the table iyaspanelwa baba, and as for you morons sundowns is doing just that, the fact of the matter is we do what we suppose to do and thats to win games, keep on howling bcoz thats what you're good at, you were howling and shouting before your beloved Kaizer Chiefs were unceremoniuosly bundled out of the champions league by an average AS Vita team, when there's a strong sundowns team in this league there's no place to hide, bring it on! Abonjandini bothukile, bebecabanga ukuthi Sundowns was jst playing fun games and now the stats are telling a diffrenet story, these boys are in a mean mood..
