Bidvest Wits heaped more misery on Golden Arrows as they beat the struggling outfit 1-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday night.
In-form striker Sthembiso Ngcobo got the goal with a commanding left-footed finish in the 13th minute to hand bottom-placed Arrows their fifth straight Premiership defeat.
The Clever Boys are third in the standings with 41 points - eight behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
Abafana Bes'thende came close to taking the lead in the seventh minute when Siyanda Zwane picked out Christopher Katongo at the far post but the latter's point-blank header was diverted wide by Man of the Match Moeneeb Josephs.
The visitors hit back with interest when Asive Langwe released Ngcobo on the left side of the box, who then fired an unstoppable shot past the exposed Arthur Bartman.
Four minutes later Josephs pulled off a good save to keep his side in the lead, diving to his right to parry a long-range effort from Jabulani Nene.
Josephs denied Arrows again in the 25th minute, diving low to his left to block a freekick from Philani Shange, before Rudolf Bester fired wide from the rebound.
The hosts came close again in the 42nd minute when Shange found Bester just outside the box, but his low shot was pushed wide by Josephs.
Arrows applied pressure early in the second half but Katongo could only direct his header straight at Josephs after meeting a cross from Zwane in the 62nd minute.
Eight minutes later it was Ngcobo who almost grabbed his brace at the other end when he latched onto a long pass from Erwin Isaacs, only to see his shot deflected onto the crossbar by Bartman.
Both sides had half-chances late in the game but William Thwala fired a tame shot straight at Josephs in the 86th minute, while Isaacs shot just wide four minutes later.
