An outbreak of flu within the Platinum Stars camp is threatening to further curtail coach Allan Freese’s selection options ahead of today’s League match against Maritzburg United.
Freese, who already has to do without skipper Vuyo Mere because of a suspension, might have to perform more juggling acts following revelations that midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele and striker Henrico Botes might also be unavailable to play.
“The two have been affected by flu,” Freese tells KickOff.com. “Our medical team will have to assess them and we will make the decision of whether or not they are fit to play.”
Freese says victory over Maritzburg will be crucial for Dikwena, who are seeking to re-assert their dominance at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday at the venue.
“We have been working hard on our weaknesses and hopefully we will be able to put up a better performance against Maritzburg,” Freese explains.
“It is important for us to collect maximum points because we must do well in front of our home supporters, especially after the defeat to Sundowns.”
