Maritzburg United defender Evans enjoying attacking freedom

Posted: 25 March 2014 Time: 09:32

Maritzburg United's Rheece Evans is enjoying that he has been encouraged to get forward by new coach Steve Komphela, with the full-back recently bagging a brace against Free State Stars.

Evans scored with a header and strike in the box in a man-of-the-match display, helping United defeat Stars 3-2 a fortnight ago.

"It was nice to get those goals, because I always feel that as a former striker and winger I have goals in me," Evans told his club's official website.

"So when the balls fell to me, I made sure I was ready to take the chances and fortunately I scored."

He added: "The coach has given us the freedom to play, to go out and express ourselves, and he has encouraged the full-backs to get up in attack.

"He takes the pressure off us by putting it on his shoulders, so that gives us the confidence to go out and play to the best of our abilities."
