Orlando Pirates looking into Masuku earphone incident

Posted: 24 March 2014 Time: 10:52

Orlando Pirates midfielder Khethokwakhe Masuku might be taken to task by the club for wearing earphones in the Bucs dugout after being substituted in the 2-0 win over Santos.

Masuku was replaced at half-time of last Friday's Nedbank Cup tie at Athlone Stadium, with his body language suggesting he was unhappy with coach Vladimir Vermezovic's decision.

The player then put on earphones - a move which quickly drew criticism on social media networks.

Pirates official Floyd Mbele said of the incident: "I know the issue about Masuku that happened on Friday.

"At this moment I can't say much and the club will look at it."

Sea Robbers fan Mashudu Mundalamo expressed his disappointment in Masuku's behaviour.

"That's unprofessional behaviour which needs to be condemned," Mundalamo said.

"Football is [a] collective sport and he must be part of the collective. [I] am disappointed that Masuku decided not to be part of the team."

Masuku disappointed me for his behaviour and I think he must be punished accordingly. He 's illdisciplined, and if he 's not careful he will be our Tears Provider as Nale was in Kaizer Chiefs, and no one will blame VV. It sucks!

That boy was wearing his earphones immediately after he came out of dressing room. Please don't be harsh on the boy, I recognize his talent, very educated right foot. Khethowakhe Masuku he is our Mzansi Becham. #ViaKhosi

If players react like this when substituted it means one thing "he is no good for the club". We had an excellent player who was not fielded only because of set-pieces but did not make it big deal. Strong actions must be taken about the player - he will set a wrong precident.

This is the type of ill discipline that was affecting the team n VV shud put these players in their place.Kermit Erasmus needs to up his game also n remain tactically disciplined. The coach shud also show patience coz its still early for him to fight wit players.he shud talk to Masuku n guide him instead. If he can give players like Bacela who hardly do anything on the pitch but still dont get substituted then he shud give others more time on the pitch.
