Mamelodi Sundowns v Polokwane City

Posted: 15 March 2014 Time: 20:01

Mamelodi Sundowns beat Polokwane City 1-0 in a League match at Loftus Stadium thanks to a goal from Teko Modise.

In the 5th minute Kabelo Lichaba somehow managed to direct a powerful cross from Mokoena over Modiri Marumo’s crossbar from point blank range, he should have done better.

Sundowns were making all the early running and broke the deadlock in the 17th minute through Modise.

Surprise Moriri’s initial effort was cleared off the line by Mbhele but Modise was on hand to stab home the rebound, 1-0.

Hlompho Kekana hit one of his thunderbolts on the stroke of half-time but Marumo was well positioned to keep out the powerful effort.

Sundowns goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands was finally called into action five minutes into the second half but was hardly tested as he easily gathered Thabo Rakhale’s tame effort.

To their credit, the visitors looked more threating as the half grew on, pushing Downs deep into their own half on occasion.

Phulane Tlolane went close to levelling matters in the 71st minute when he lost his marker before directing a header at goal but Sandilands had his near post covered to make the save..

Sundowns looked content to sit back in the final exchanges and were nearly punished in stoppage time.

Rakhale’s curling free-kick from just outside the area was on target but Sandilands was again up to the task.

I think you should both relocate to the Nazi Germany or Uganda. What happen to the freedom of speech or freedom of choice.

The way I see it, Angie Motsega has a lot to do.this 30 percent passing rate is fooling you.just by getting 30 now u thonk u can wrestle everyone in this sight. Just because you can read and right you think you can write any shit in this site.

I'm not your friend, and by the way I see it, you've got self image issue and you trying to build your confidence in this site. This is a football site not a beuty peagant.

You don't just swear to anyone just because you differ in opinions "what you do and say talks volumes about you"

Sgonondo this coach Pitso never stop signing players already he has 4 for next season in Ejike Uzoenye,Nomandela,Bonginkosi Ntuli and Thulani Hlatshwayo of Ajax. This same coach who helped us from relegation has signed more than 20 players in almost 20 months, others he signed at beginning of the season 6 months later he loaned them. Lastly he always buy foreigners am hearing he has 4 for next season as well.

@Mgqwabeni I think only one player uzoenyi has been confirmed to be joining us next season, hlatshwayo has a pre-contract with wits. Nomandela & Ntuli are only media speculations. Don't believe everything the media says, they are anti-Downs.

As for Pitso signing many players this season....he did what was necessary, our position on the log suggests he made the right decision.

Good players doesn't necessarily make a good team, this is Pitso's first season in charge lets give him a chance to build his team.

This Tuckshop will choke in dying minutes as usual and their 1000 fans will blame Pitso. History repeats itself and a good thing if that these nyaope boys will not do to Pitso what they have done to Habbas and Neeskens because he is not afraid he can bleksem the hell out of them.

@Mosixty chiefs will have to be 5× psl champions first for Sundowns to be in their shandows. The way I see it its the other way round. You can go anywhere in the world, success is judged by league titles.....Sundowns is the most successful team in S.A.

Khosi lam, if you are a real khosi. Khosi fans are soccer lovers. Just because we supporting chiefs, its doesn't mean that we must turn blind eye to other teams good that they do, and also brilliance that their respective players have. Don't let to much love for your club makes you look like a hater of soccer.

So I would offer you this cheap advise; in Zulu Nxa! Is a word symbolises anger and disrespect. This means that you don't respect us or our opinions as your co_bloggers. Therefore I recommend anger management lessons for u.

If you say that teko wasidlisa in the world cup. That tell me that he was the only player playing or he was your best hope who couldn't live to your expectations that day. Brother u can't be angry at nothing, Teko is something.

I wuldnt say that "u nothing"

You seriously need psychiatric help , only a fool can argue with facts. I know its bitter pill to swallow but it's a fact Mamelodi Sundowns FC is the most successful team in S.A.
