Masuku won't fear for Pirates place

Posted: 13 March 2014 Time: 17:34

Khethokwakhe 'Bhereza' Masuku insists he is not worried about the coaching changes at Orlando Pirates but is focusing on maintaining his same work-rate.

The wing-wizard has enjoyed decent game-time this season starting 11 games under Roger de Sa and mostly in Eric Tinkler’s caretaker stint, but he must now also win the belief of Vladimir Vermezovic – who brought back Tlou Segolela for Wednesday night’s win over Moroka Swallows.

“Coaches are always there to do a job at the club just like us as players so the only thing that we can do as players is work for the man in charge. I remain as motivated as before because we have changed coaches and not players,” says Masuku.

“I cannot waste my energy thinking about the new coach because what matters is that I keep on putting in the same hard work that I have been putting in all along this season. The new coach is different in his own way but as players we just need to keep pushing.

"It showed yesterday against Swallows that he [Vermezovic] is a tactical coach and willing to get the best out of all us. The coach will even tell you one-on-one that you must go in there and enjoy. He is a friend and father to us and all we want to do is play for him because he has been brought in here to work with us.

"He has the tactics that can make a difference in the team and even the mentality of the players sees all of them wanting to play under him,” says Masuku.

The former Black Leopards midfielder adds that he will remain the same player that he has always been as he slowly works his way towards becoming a crowd favourite at Pirates.

“As long as I keep on working as hard as before, everything will fall into place like before. There is nothing to fear here but I just need to keep my head up and keep pushing. As skillful as I am, I have to stay true to my abilities and play my normal game,” he adds.

I like the way u mesmerize your opponents Boss, you remind me of my stalwart Scara Ngobese (may his soul RIP). What I like about you is that you don't only showboat but also become an offensive player while doing that. Now that's mzansi soccer, I remember Mngomeni doing it to the Man City players and they were so angry, lol. Anyway am a K4L baba.

@Think tank. What must he do when he's asked a question at a press conference? Must he just keep quiet ? Sometimes fans don't use their brains when blogging here

Average player that was selected becos of clueless Tinkler and Disaster. I challenge u to watch the videos of Brendan Silent then you will realise that you are not Pirates material. You can't even challenge an old crock that is injury prone like Masilela.

Kheto is far much better than Sfiso-V.V should play him on the right and DK7 or Makola on the left, then we will enjoy our usual Zebra stew on Saturday. UP THE BUCS till Musona gains complexion.

Say all you want poi but I'm still not convinced by you. You have this thing of always slowing down moves that could've been potent and also lose the ball cheaply at times with aabsolutely no pressure whatsoever. You also seems clueless on how to get the better of the opponents, you can't round them and never comes in from out wide to add to the numbers in the box. So for me personally I choose tlou and believe that sooner rather than later vv will get the gautrain running smoothly in no time and his confidence will be sky high. Once and always bucs.

shihambahamba mboweni  really!, i don't want any of your abovementioned average players in the starting lineup poi,  right Segolela, left Moloangwane, players that can get past any player with ease. None of the players you mentioned can do that. And makola is great in that position behind the strikers with Kermit and majoro upfront. Manyisa should go back to his old position with ntsumayelo going to the bench. We need quality on Saturday, not quantity. Once and always bucs.

fortune_ COWloba  Mara juju bhereza is as average as they come poi. He can't round the opposite player when we on attack and always pass back. Therefore our play around the 18 yard area becoming predictably slow. He also have a sickness of losing the ball cheaply and vv coming in means that bhereza's days of wastefulness is over, its fix gautrains time now cause DeSa and his buddies have destroyed my player. He will be back more determined than ever before, that is guaranteed buccania. Once and always bucs.

Buc-champ This is where the coach comes in... It might be that the coaches at Pirates did not necessarily want him to round any player.  I agree with you, Bereza does lose the ball cheaply and would need to work on this strongly.  I would pick him over Tlou any day because his play is dynamic compared to tlou who seems to always want to beat for pace even if the situation doesnt warrant.  A great coach can however get the best out of the both of them.... Guidance is key!
