Chiefs cruise into second round

Posted: 8 March 2014 Time: 17:05

Kaizer Chiefs cruised into the next round of the CAF Champions League after a 3-0 away win over Liga Mulculmana, to progress 7-0 on aggregate.

The Mozambican champions boasted an unbeaten home record in CAF competitions prior to the match, but that statistic has been well and truly shattered after a clinical Chiefs display put them to the sword.

Knowledge Musona bagged a hat-trick in the first half before taking a well-earned break early in the second stanza as Kingston Nkhatha replaced him.

The Zimbabwean striker took just 15 minutes to open the scoring and netted a second 12 minutes later to make it 2-0 as Amakhosi killed Muculmana's challenge before even 30 minutes of the second leg.

Chiefs were then awarded a penalty just after the half-hour mark and the 'Smiling Assassin' made no mistake from the spot to seal his hat-trick, and Chiefs' passage to the next round.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane was replaced by George Maluleka just before half-time after succumbing to a facial injury, but the wound is only a cut mouth and will not keep the midfielder sidelined.

The second half saw more of a fightback from the hosts as they tried to salvage some pride but the Chiefs defence repelled their attacks, while Reyaad Pieterse made a few important saves and will be delighted to have preserved the clean sheet in the absence of Itumeleng Khune.

The Glamour Boys will now face either AS Vita (DR Congo) or Dynamos (Zimbabwe) in the second round of the competition.

Kaizer Chiefs: Pieterse, Gaxa, Masilela, Mashamaite, Gould, Bukenya, Nkosi (Baloyi), Letsholonyane (Maluleka), Lebese, Rusike, Musona (Nkhatha).

Subs: Khuzwayo, Baloyi, Nkhatha, Maluleka, Tshabalala, Gordinho, Moleko.

So DSTV expects me to continue paying for their premium package with their price increasing next month? And SABC expects me to pay TV license? I will surely reduce my DSTV subscription and as for TV license I will never pay such a thing.

One of the main reason I pay DSTV is because of Kaizer Chiefs.

Why are south african teams participating in this cup if they are not broadcast, furthermore, they dont even pay. Champions league need to be a prestigious event. No wonder why UEFA is so popular coz the organisers are selling their product. How do u expect product to be watched abroad if it cant be watched domestically. When teams boycott the competition they are suspended hence no protection from SAFA.

UEFA teams are very rich but they display their sponsor on their jerseys during the match hence african teams are refused to do that. Who needs sponsor to travel between european and african teams. CAF please allow teams to display their sponsors as they desperately need them as your competition dont even pay well.

Kaizer and the PSL board of governers must review the decision to give SABC exclusive rights to flight Champions league games. Kganyago is on record that their revenue generator is soapies, they are not a sports TV but a national broadcaster. That being true, why PSL must agree to take such matches to an inept TV station. This is serious act of disdain and KC must sort this now or risk the consequences. SABC showed the home leg, if the away team is selling the rights to the highest bidder, then I know SABC always backs off if it's football. Supersport should enter the fray and save us from this torture.

It is the responsibily of SABC to negotiate with foreign broadcasters for the feed for CAF competitions as well as Bafana games, SuperSport also buys from SABC

Our television people are not fair. Last year we were shown pirates' games even if they played outside the country. What is happening with Chiefs' games?
