Four-star Chiefs crush Muculmana

Posted: 1 March 2014 Time: 18:50

Kaizer Chiefs beat Liga Muculmana 4-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in their CAF Champions League first-leg clash on Saturday night.

Knowledge Musona opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Siphiwe Tshabalala doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a sweet volley that went in off the underside of the crossbar from a Tsepo Masilela delivery.

Musona had an industrious goal disallowed for handball just before half-time as the ball pinballed against his hand while he was marauding past the last defender and goalkeeper.

Matthew Rusike replaced Kingston Nkhatha with 17 minutes remaining and repaid Stuart Baxter's faith in him by firing home a venomous shot from outside the box into the bottom-left corner to give the opposition keeper no chance.

In the 88th minute, Mulomowandau Mathoho was left unmarked at the far post and he headed home Tshabalala's cross from the right to put the icing on the cake for Amakhosi as the celebrations reverberated around Moses Mabhida.

Chiefs starting XI: Pieterse, Gaxa, Mathoho, Mashamaite, Masilela, Katsande (Bukenya 90), Letsholonyane, Tshabalala, Parker, Musona, Nkhatha (Rusike 73)

I still maintain that:

1. Position number two in the current log must be declared vacant..the gap is too big to squeeze three serious teams in there...

2. When we come back unscathed from our African Safari, we don't add any tiny gold Star on our Gold & Black Jersey! I mean really now? We are after all Gold, Bold & Glamorous!

It wasn't by ignorance that we didn't add any little star when we won Continental Cup! Even in 2005 when we conquered the league title for the Tenth time!
