Sundowns, Pirates eyeing Manaka

Posted: 28 February 2014 Time: 09:36 can reveal that both Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are chasing the signature of Black Leopards midfielder Edgar Manaka.

Manaka caught the eye with an impressive performance during the Nedbank Cup Last 32 game against Kaizer Chiefs played in Limpopo recently and was named Man of the Match.

READ: Chiefs sneak past unlucky Leopards

The 24-year-old has been a loyal member to Leopards after going down to the First Division following their relegation two seasons ago. However, the midfielder's future with Lidoda Duvha remains uncertain now that he has been linked with Pirates and Sundowns.

According to a source close to Black Leopards, both the Brazilians and the Buccaneers have made enquires about the player.

"A Sundowns official spoke to him after the game against Chiefs and took his number. Orlando Pirates have also sent their representative to speak to the player," says the source.

Leopards spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa says his team has not yet received any offer from a PSL club.

"I will not comment about anything until I see something black and white and the teams officially approach us," he says.

We call him Stiga. This boy used to partner Hlompho Kekana in the midfield of Turfloop Sport Academy. Mahlatse Maake (Mzambiya) who played for Leopards and they were a team of high school boys terrorising University teams. They were under the guidance of Mr Jerry Ramohlale who produced the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele; Richard Rantjie; Tlou Molekwane; Lebogang Ramolesa; Mamadimo Masenya and many more younger players playing in the First and Second divisions.

He's a good player. He's a creative midfielder but he can defend as well, much like AAAAAAACE.

Its either Sundowns and Chiefs or Sundowns and Pirates. Sundowns is always involve one way or the other. Pitso can not have every good player in South Africa.

Signdowns just want to destroy my homeboy's career. They already did with Raymond Monama and Tiyani Mabunda who are both playing the same position as Edgar. They already have a lot of players in that position:

and now they want to add Edgar. It looks like signdowns is on a mission to sign every player who wins a man of the match against Amakhosi.

Thank you Kaizer for football knowledge ....that a good display against Chiefs will not make a certain player to don the gold n black ....very strange a good 90min against Chiefs haaa will be a star to some so called Big teams in SA.

It took Jali 5yrs to go aboard, Khune Has done almost every thing here in SA but still to deal.

My point is here at home will never learn its high time we let peoples who have played football to run it and let Economist to Eco.

Honest this boy had just player against his childhood team, i'm ont taking anything away from him let him grow pls don't kill the unborn child he is innocent ....haven't you learn something from Manqele saga.

The Real Lucho  but we all know Shongwe has left 'Downs for Wits. Also, If Mabunda and Monama play the same position as this dude, how is it that they (Mabunda and Monama) played alongside each other at Leopards?

Pitso my man you will soon be fired for fruitless and wasteful expenditure. You should know that with limited resources you can produce the best results. So go slow my friend and use players that you have AT YOUR DISPOSAL  and stop this craziness... ONCE A BUC ALWAYS A BUC

bhakasowe2 Manaka never played for Thanda and he was never signed by Amazulu. He was involved in a tag of war between Baroka and Leopards when the later was still in the PSL and ever since then he stayed with Leopards. The boy stays at an upmarket suburb in Polokwane called Thornhill. His closest friend is Hunadi of Baroka FC. I'm NOT BLOGGING ABOUT A PASSERBY HERE.
