University of Stellenbosch Bloemfontein Celtic Nedbank Cup

Posted: 26 February 2014 Time: 20:16

Bloemfontein Celtic cruised into the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after drubbing University of Stellenbosch at 8-0 Coetzenberg Stadium.

Maties were on the backfoot from the word go as Musa Nyatama scored in the fourth minute, and just 13 minutes later he had already completed his hat-trick.

The hosts had a chance to pull one back when they were awared a penalty, but the chance was squandered and immediatly Celtic made them pay as Lerato Lamola found the back of the net.

Joel Mogorosi added a fifth before a quick-fire double from Vuyani Ntanga made it 7-0 at halftime.

However, any thoughts of a 'Powerlines scoreline' evaporated in the second half as a combination of more grit from Maties and slacking off from the visitors meant that only one more goal was scored - Lamola again getting in on the act.

So Celtic go through to tomorrow's last 16 draw, while for Maties it is back to the drawing board.

University of Stellenbosch: Olivier, Jacobs, Anthony, Lewis, Magqabi, Linders, Wanza, Smidt, Manuel, Rathford, Van Graan

Bloemfontein Celtic: Tignyemb, Ntanga, Bilankulu, Nkausu, Daniels, Mogorosi, Letlabika, Buchanan, Nyatama, Lamola, Gabonamong

Maybe this will motivate Celtic to start playing like a team that have ambition to win a league not just to have Grant in PSL
