Nyauza keen to improve his game

Posted: 26 February 2014 Time: 14:12

Orlando Pirates defender Ntsikelelo Nyauza was happy that he caused "no problems for the team" during their 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns last night.

Nyauza was brought into the side for the big League match against Sundowns because of a defensive shortage and performed ably on the night, despite picking up a head wound that needed bandaging.

“I think it was a corner-kick and I went for the ball. I collided with a Sundowns defender and the next thing I saw blood streaming down my face," Nyauza tells the Pirates website.

"I tried to carry on but I got dizzy; that is why I went to the ground and called for help. I got a few stitches and I then could carry on playing.

"In the end I’m glad I could go through the match causing no problems for the team."

The 24-year-old is hoping to kick on and win a regular place in the Pirates side after joining the Buccaneers in January.

"I have just joined the team and being thrown in at the deep end in a big match shows how much confidence my teammates and the technical team had in me. It was tough to start against a big team like Sundowns. I obviously had to be at my best," adds the former Platinum Stars player.

"I think I did okay – we won the match and I was part of the team, so I am happy with that. I can only improve from here."

Good game poi.... You are tight and resolute in your defending. One thing that disturbed me was seeing you trying to tell the ref what to do at some point. Stay calm and do your job and leave referees.

Your performance was excellent and did not put the team under unnecessary pressure. I also liked your anticipation and the way you read the game. Always alert. Keep it up chana.

Like I always say...let's give no name playrs a chance before we judge them. This is one situation that takes me back to the Manyisa one many moons ago. People were calling for his axing and look at where he is now.

We need to give people a chance. This is in line with our principle of signing no-name players and turning them to household names. Jali is another example. Bacela will do wonders and I am sure Motshegwa and our number 5

U were firm bhakaniya. Jus keep it up. U raised ur hand n were counted, tinkler mus not drop u in favour in Gcaba. Jele was also brilliant in the centre. The bak4 we used mus stay like that. The middle field also held its own.

From now on, winning mus be standard n ur tika teka mus be more effective cos the opposition knws that position is harmless thus they watch passing the ball around aimlessly

Pirates men bust allegedly planting muthi! Published: Wednesday, 2014/02/26 A LOSS was the last thing on their minds. So

they allegedly sent their men to plant muthi to

ensure a win in the weekend clash. Orlando Pirates took on Thanda Royal Zulu in the

Nedbank Cup competitionon Saturdayand won on

penalties. Three men believed to have been hired by Pirates

were caught three days before the game allegedly

trying to plant muthi on the field. According to a source, who asked not to be named,

the three men approached security guards at

Umhlathuze Sports Complex. They tried to bribe the guards to allow them to enter

the stadium. “They offered the guards R400 but the guards

refused the amount,’’ the source told Daily Sun. “They later agreed on a payment of R1000.’ “But when they arrived on Thursday, they went into

the stadium without giving the guards their money.” While they were busy planting muthi on the field, the

guards called the cops, who bust the men. Thanda general manager Thabani Gumede confirmed

the incident. And Orlando Pirates spokesman Mickey Modisane

confirmed to Daily Sun that the incident took place. He said the men were not arrested but held for a

short period of time. “This happened due to miscommunication between

our team, the security guards and Thanda Royal. “Our club officials had gone to the stadium to collect

change room keys when the incident occurred,’’

Modisane told the People’s Paper. “I can confirm that they were never charged but held

for a short period, interrogated and released.” Captain Thulani Zwane confirmed that a case of

trespassing was opened by Richards Bay SAPS. “No arrests have been made so far,” Zwane said.

A successful big team like Orlando Pirates doesn't have to be in an situation like were we have shortage of players I blame Dr Khoza for dat, he must sign Dioff from Supersport since de money 's not de problem.

As for Gcaba I wish he can be on suspended for de whole cson.
