Orlando Pirates coach Tinkler: Victory against Mamelodi Sundowns lifts morale

Posted: 25 February 2014 Time: 21:56

Orlando Pirates interim coach Eric Tinkler said morale will climb following his players' hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday night.

REPORT: Sundowns 0-1 Pirates

Bucs, who recently lost the reverse tie, ended a three-game winless streak in the League courtesy of Man of the Match Khethokwakhe Masuku's 37th minute goal at Loftus Stadium.

Tinkler said: "This will lift morale very high.

"We always knew we could get a positive result against them, it was just about turning that corner.

"In some games we have been creating alot of chances and not converting, while in other games we have not been creating.

"We were excellent in the first half, and the work-rate was phenomenal.

"The boys kept going, and I am extremely proud of them today."

I can't wait to see Happy Jele partnering Rooi Mahamutsa in the heart of our defence. We're sick and tired of that Gcaba/Lekgwathi combination, which has ones again costs us the league this season.

I think it is true that they're practicing witchcraft in the team, because they don't get injured and they rare get suspended. Wena Erick Tinkler make sure that that Gcaba of yours does not come anywhere near our starting line up when he comes back.

Masuku can't perform under pressure, and that's disqualifies him from being a Pirate material.

My one-night stand with gorillas ended well. Though I did not care that much because I know we can do the job ourselves but they had to return our favor because when they won treble we had to harass AJAX so that they can survive.

The worst coach ever, Tinkerbell you take the crown. Pierats, to repeat Boamorte words, is on auto-pilot, with turbulance up and down, sometimes just in between. I wonder where that Gogo called MAMIMZELA is, or that silverback called King

... he thinks he can score from square shots... he wants to copy segolela by trying to take defenders on... he trips down witout cause... advice is.. he must play own game bt remember hes not alone.. he must be in the box often... thts y he scored tht goal... not disjointed loner wher himself and de ball dies

This nyauza only played well after some sense was knocked in his head wit injury...no malicious or insensetive intend... he was 2 seconds late wit every thing... he wanted to overlap bt always blasted hiposition wit de ball.. he cudnt make mind of playing back pass as first option... tht made jele to clutter in covering and recovering lost possession... infact it wud hv been easy for him if he played timeous 1/2s wit jele.. otherwys he played well and can build on... unlike gcaba who is costly despite being given ample game time... lekgwati my captain.. remains indispensable and dependable

Pelembe  Don't write us off yet. I think we can do it. We have good strikers and if they come to the party there will be goals and the other guys have started training and who knows we might just form at the right time. We need to win 10 games to take it from chiefs and that is possible.
