Kaizer Chiefs teenager Lorenzo Gordinho feels he did well to recover after conceding a penalty against Maritzburg United on his Premier Soccer League debut last night.
The 19-year-old tripped Kurt Lentjies in the area, with new United signing Bhongolwethu Jayiya converting the resultant spot-kick in the 36th minute of the tie at Harry Gwala Stadium.
"I am very happy at the moment and even though I caused the penalty I thought I did well for the team," Gordinho told Chiefs' official website.
"Sometimes the first games don’t go the way one has planned but I did well to come back in the second half from the mistake I did in the first half.
"I am happy that we drew the game. My head did drop a bit because I felt I was going to cost the team but I kept on working hard. I will take this experience forward in a positive way. I will look at my mistakes and rectify them and move on to progress with my game," concluded Gordinho, who typically operates at centre-back but was deployed on the right side of defence against the Team of Choice.
Regular right-back Siboniso Gaxa was switched to the left to fill the void left by the absence of injured star Tsepo Masilela.
