PSL match report: Orlando Pirates vs University of Pretoria

Orlando Pirates edged University of Pretoria 1-0 at Orlando Stadium on Thursday night.
The Buccaneers did not quite click in attack in the same way they did in their 3-0 win at Platinum Stars earlier this week, but a second-half strike from Oupa Manyisa was enough to secure them all three points.
Pirates created the first clear chance on goal on 13 minutes, when Kermit Erasmus sent a powerful effort on target. The ball was punched back to him by goalkeeper Washington Arubi, but he could not make anything of the second chance.
The stocky striker had another effort on goal on the half-hour mark, getting a header on target from Daine Klate's cross, but it was an easy save for Arubi.
Erasmus was clearly Pirates' liveliest player in attack, and had another snap shot from just inside the penalty area in the dying seconds of the first half, but the ball flashed wide of the far post.
Tuks rarely threatened in the first 45 minutes, but early in the second stanza striker Geoffrey Massa forced a sharp save from Senzo Meyiwa with a well-struck shot, before wasting a free header seconds later.
On 53 minutes Pirates took the lead with what the visitors may consider a soft goal. Sifiso Myeni cut inside from the right and shot with his left, and while Arubi appeared to have it covered, Manyisa arrived out of nowhere to divert the ball past the keeper for his second goal this week.
Tuks attacker Mpho Maruping should have taken advantage of some sloppy defending from the hosts with just a quarter hour to play, as he burst through the defenders before sending a low shot just wide of the far post.
