Knowldge Musona scores as Kaizer Chiefs beat University of Pretoria

Posted: 16 December 2013 Time: 19:25

Kaizer Chiefs secured their fourth successive League win after easing past University of Pretoria at Soccer City on Monday evening.

Knowledge Musona scored the only match of the goal of the match, with the three points seeing Amakhosi join Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the standings after the Brazilians could only draw with SuperSport United earlier in the day.

A howler by AmaTuks goalkeeper Washington Arubi gifted the Chiefs the goal; his weak goal-kick being collected by Bernard Parker and laid on to Musona, who made mistake from close range in the sixth minute.

The Zimbabwean was having a good game early on and tested the reflexes of compatriot Arubi with a low, long-range shot, before Mulomowandau Mathoho’s flicked Parker’s free-kick inches over the bar on 30 minutes..

Arubi made up for his earlier mistake with a great save to deny Siphiwe Tshabalala just before the break.

The second half turned out to be dull affair as Chiefs continued to dominate, but without creating any real clear-cut chances.

And Tuks almost capitilised on that in the 78th minute with their first effort on target; Mpho Maruping tamely heading Charly Mousson-Moussono’s pinpoint cross into the grateful arms of Itumeleng Khune.

Chiefs gave a professional debut to Philani Cele late on; the exciting young midfielder replacing Tshabalala wih 12 minutes remaining and the hosts settled for the three crucial points.

Was the writer of this article drunk? What about the editor? I never saw so many stupid errors in an article.

Happy with th Defence, hope Moleko gets a chance though...Katsande & Yeye need 2 come 2 th party, times our defence is exposed because of poor marking. Is this wht we gonna gt frm Nkatha every game? th likes of Shaba,Musona & Parker thy need 2 understand tht thy r playing 4 Chiefs..this indivisualism needs 2 stop,it's been going on for long nw.

heita makhosi.

there are a few pointers in the match against tuks that need mentioning;

1. musona and parker don't combine, each plays for himself and it seems they are competing. nkatha was isolated and all those long balls in the air were in vain. they should be played to his feet or in space for him to chase.....

2. shabba needs a rest and some competition....his perfomances of late are not up to scratch...

3. the total commitment of mathoho and katsande should be an example to all the amakhosi to emulate, if our boys can follow that example chiefs will win the league.

4. the bench of SB looked bleak with virtually no attacking player on sight....and morgan gould does not deserve a place on that bench, he must be in the stand...

lastly, the following players must be released to make way for quality reinforcements in January: MASANGO, RUSIKE,JAMBO, GOULD, MAJORO, the latter has a lack of commitment towards our jersey, shown by his bodylanguage and therefore we must swop him for a similar attacker.....

otherwise am glad about our ability to win or grind out wins against our opponents....and PS...wenever we win at least five games in a row in any given season, then we win the league

Coach please please just buy new players there is no competition at chiefs, shappa and letsolenyane they both need some rest. your tactics coach are so pridicatable its like you don't have a plan B. all the games i've watch this season Kaizer chiefs give away the ball so easly to the opponents. the team lack pace and creativity. yes we have been winning games but this is not the kaizer chiefs we know. YOU AND BOBBY must open the cheque  book and get players period!!!! HARMONY HARMONY my foot, just get new players we are tired of your accuses now

khosiMascot terence1  agree with you on that one bud. very promising indeed. we have good strikers at chiefs no need for new strikers in my opinion maybe can add Mphela in the mix... Musona, Parker, major are prolific goal scorers, You can clearly see in all our games this season  that our strikers are always coming from deep to collecting the balls that is frustrating for me...we keep saying that they are not scoring but its the coach tactics. we really need a goalscorer that scores at least mostly every game.

Don't worry fellow Khosis, the new signings are coming to strengthen the team, and we are going to represent South Africa in Africa next year. Khosi Nation. Republic of Kaizer Chiefs :)
