PSL match report Mamelodi Sundowns vs Moroka Swallows

Posted: 1 December 2013 Time: 15:07

Mamelodi Sundowns went top of the Premiership log as a Katlego Mashego brace handed them a 2-1 win over Moroka Swallows on Sunday.

Katlego Mashego got a goal in each half, while Lerato Chabangu hit home with a free-kick at the death.

Swallows had their first real attempt at goal when winger Dikgang Mabalane volleyed the ball just wide after it had fallen to him on the edge of the box in the 26th minute.

Four minutes later Chabangu was one-on-one with Kennedy Mweene, but the former Brazilians captain shot straight at the goalkeeper. It was a weak attempt as he had time to place the ball.

The home side had an opportunity at the other end seconds later. Khama Billiat skilfully beat his marker and eliminated a few defenders before setting up Cuthbert Malajila, who toe-poked the ball into the side netting with his left foot.

The game began to open up in the latter stages of the first half and the Brazilians punished Swallows for their erratic defending.

Etafia sent a lame pass to his defender and has dispossessed by Billiat, who unselfishly passed to an unmarked Mashego to tap home into an empty net.

Mashego doubled his tally in the 60th minute when Swallows failed to clear the ball from a corner-kick. Rashid Sumalia’s header came off the crossbar and Mashego reacted the quickest to head home from close range.

Former Sundowns man Luvhengo Mungomeni was given his marching orders by referee Lwandile Mfiki in the 74th minute after a second yellow card offence.

Two minutes before time, Chabangu reduced the deficit, when he curled in a free kick from 20 yards to beat Mweene.

Bucs is used to playing in big leagues in Africa and Europe. They won't make it to the top of PSL.

For how long have you been in the bottom of the league? When do you intend to move out of the relegation zone?

I dont know what match you were watching...

Both players with due respect deserved imidiate red cards plus appearances before the desclinary commitee! In both situations the ball was neither close to the affected players and or the affected organs. So their intensions was clear that they both went for the men. And in that is therefore an assault! Which is a case worthy of discipline, fine and charge.

I have lost respect to this sunclown coach Pitso Mosimane, what he said in the post match interview was very much childish and of poor taste. Even if you have won the match coach, show some respect to your opponents in your comments. a little bit of matuarity will make u rise above others. Afterall I remain a khosi 4 life.

Ooo Lerato hw I wish you cud teach other kids (parker, shabba, klate, modise, etc) hw the ball is bent. I think ur the first player in a very long long tym that has scored via a freekick in two consecutive games... Number 1 babawami

I honestly do not believe both incidents deserved red cards. Mweene and nomvete collided. He did not strech any part of his body to deny nomvete from passing. I agree had his elbow up but lets look at the positioning of the elbow and nomvete's head. Its not like he wanted to knock him out with the elbow They both were charging and focused on the ball, which mweene won. As for billiat, a yellow card was sufficient.

U rite Khosi he suprised me with his tasteless comments (swallows deserved to be beaten)! Kwa pitso

He is naturally arrogant, but he took it too far this time.

Zeca shudnt have tried to counter him by throwing that "we matched a rich team with limited resources"...that line is just pathetic and self-pity

posted: 2013-12-01 17:12:36

Yes true, Sam, zeca was also just out of line, players play in the field and not money, and it's 11 against 11. What does money has to do with this.

Amakhosi must negotiate with Swallows and sign Chabangu....we need that boy for ACL
