Free State Stars v Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 30 November 2013 Time: 15:04

Kaizer Chiefs moved to the top of the log with a hard fought 2-0 win over Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Siyabonga Nkosi and Siphiwe Tshabalala scored in each half.

Chiefs were quick out of the blocks and had three great opportunities to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes.

Firstly Tefu Mashmaited missed from close before Knowledge Musona failed to capitalize on an Ea Lla Koto defensive mistake.

Daniel Agyei was forced into a fine double save in the 17th minute to deny first Tshabalala and then Nkosi.

The Ghana goalkeeper though could do nothing to stop Nkosi from scoring in the38th minute.

The Chiefs midfielder made a darting run into the area before heading Tshabalala’s precise free-kick into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Chiefs were deserved 1-0 leaders at the interval.

Stars piled forward in the final few minutes of the match and thought they had equalised a minute from time through Ouro-Akoriko.

The Togolese found the back of the net with his head from close-range but the linesman's flag was raised for off-side.

Shabba sealed the deal in second half stoppage time when he ran onto a neat ball from Parker before beating Agyei to make it 2-0.

From what I have seen today Chiefs will defend the league title. I know what I'm talking about. Today luck was not on Chiefs side yet they won comfortably. Now that is a sign of what I'm talkin about

I said last week after PSL reschedule the league features, PSL want to put pressure onto Mamelodi Sundowns by playing K Chiefs on Wednesday as well as Saturday while Sundowns will have to wait until Sunday afternoon to plat their game.I said PSL want Chiefs to collect 06 points and move from 15 points position 06 to 21 and claim the 1'st spot which will put pressure onto Sundowns at the time they play second place Swallows. Why didn't they (PSL) put Chiefs game on Sunday and Sundowns to be on Saturday because Chiefs played on mid-week while Sundowns have last played the game in 3 weeks? They wanted Sundowns to be out of rythem and form remember K Chiefs played past weekend, as well as mid-week and again on Saturday while Sundowns has not played the game in 3 weeks now. This PSL iyanyanisa siss!

Good result.

I see there r a lot of fickle fans on here tht jump easily on the media bandwagon. Yes Chiefs doesn't have enough depth. But they sure as hell have a very good 18 man match day squad that can easily take on any opposition.

If we continue to win games, add gud quality players in January like George Maluleka, Luyolo Nomandela, Katlego Mphela and blend the very talented Philani Cele and Chris Matombo then I believe we will defend our league title and do well to reach the group stages....

Kudos mates. More of the same against Marabastad will be even better

Lifikile. Ikhosi and small teams will star getting worried at the rythem the boys are playing . Coach now just fix the errors that Siyabonga commits . He must be calm up front and pass when closed not heating out of target . Job well done guys . Let us focus on next game guys !!

Fingas that's correct Khosi....now lets see if the jealous Sundowns will allow us to sign some of their players that have become furniture...including Mphela  and Pelembe and even Modise for our Champions league adventure....I've never seen such a team that ENSLAVE its players and not allow the loaned players to play against them....what are they afraid of?...they even refused to allow Mushekwi to join Pirates...but they are the ones who always has an audacity to poach our players and promise them huge fees.....only to dump them when they are done and looking for more prey to destroy....its disgusting.....the talent of our players is wasted there...sies

I still argue that Nkosi is in a wrong Bus! Not a Chiefs material He Just can't keep up with the pace! Scored a lovely goal but miss clear open net chances, Nkosi should make way for S Vilakazi come January! We also need G Maluleka to keep YeYe on his toes, he's currently playing sh!t
