Free State Stars v Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 30 November 2013 Time: 15:04

Kaizer Chiefs moved to the top of the log with a hard fought 2-0 win over Free State Stars at Charles Mopeli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Siyabonga Nkosi and Siphiwe Tshabalala scored in each half.

Chiefs were quick out of the blocks and had three great opportunities to open the scoring in the first 20 minutes.

Firstly Tefu Mashmaited missed from close before Knowledge Musona failed to capitalize on an Ea Lla Koto defensive mistake.

Daniel Agyei was forced into a fine double save in the 17th minute to deny first Tshabalala and then Nkosi.

The Ghana goalkeeper though could do nothing to stop Nkosi from scoring in the38th minute.

The Chiefs midfielder made a darting run into the area before heading Tshabalala’s precise free-kick into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

Chiefs were deserved 1-0 leaders at the interval.

Stars piled forward in the final few minutes of the match and thought they had equalised a minute from time through Ouro-Akoriko.

The Togolese found the back of the net with his head from close-range but the linesman's flag was raised for off-side.

Shabba sealed the deal in second half stoppage time when he ran onto a neat ball from Parker before beating Agyei to make it 2-0.

With Cowxa & Ricow at full back, it looks like it will be a good day for FSS wingers.

We are bringing "thunder and lightening". It's De javu Free State Stars, remember what happened to Polokwane in rainy weather, last season it happened to Black Leopards.

Baxter is slowly building himself a frankenstein Monster and he wont blame anyone. Why must he insist on Shabba while everyone can see the guy is off form. Baxter will subject Shabba to harsh criticism; he needs to protect his players. watch this game, Shabba loses balls and does not chase back. often, such breaks have resulted in threatening situations. Shabba is lax and receives the ball like he was not expecting it; to make it worse, his inclination to always fall and look for intercesion...

Thats a weak lineup......Richie is a passanger, Gaxa is useless, Mathoho is slow. If Musona and Parker plays as wingers then they will be strong in attack but weak defending expecially on musona's side. If they play as strikers, again chiefs will be weak on the wings as Shabba and Nkosi cant defend. What I am saying is today Yeye and Katsande will be overworked and they will have to be at their best.

I said it before & I will say it now,,Chiefs will win this game as long as Morgan Gould is not on the team..

Almost similar to Bafana line up against Spain except Katsande cannot attack, and provided if Nkosi is going to play central n Shabba play behind de strikers! 4-3-1-2 formation! This formation is best for South African Football! No wingers by middlefieders! N.B Matches are won or lost in the middle of the park!

Treble champ "Superbrand"

It wont be weak provided Nkosi is going to play central to help Katsade n Yeye to both defend n attack.

Morgan Gould costed us so much, he deserves a long break. Matoho was superb last season. He is good on the air, good on takles and he gives u an option on attack. Coach favouritsm nearly killed our team. Thanks to that sucker punch.

Dankie Shabba...

What a game you had.....

A goal + An assist + a lot of tracking back helping in defence

I loved the fluidity of our formation...Nkosi, Shabba and Parker interchanging positions running hard at the defence.
