Kaizer Chiefs Bidvest Wits PSL

Posted: 9 November 2013 Time: 19:31

A late mistake by Moeneeb Josephs handed Kaizer Chiefs a 2-1 win against Bidvest Wits at Soccer City on Saturday evening.

After a goalless first half in front of a sparse crowd, Amakhosi took the lead through Kingston Nkhatha, who had again been the victim of the boo-boys after some glaring misses in the first half.

Ryan Chapman came off the bench to equalise not long after, but Josephs' error - hitting the ball into his own net after Lehlohonolo Majoro's header had come back off the the woodwork - handed Chiefs three much-needed points.

Stuart Baxter made three changes to the line-up that lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape Town in midweek, while Gavin Hunt also made three changes to the Wits outfit that beat AmaTuks.

Willard Katsande returned to the starting line-up for Amakhosi, while Benjani Mwaruwari started up front for the Clever Boys.

Chiefs settled in quickest and should have had the lead in the 17th minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala’s snapshot from range was parried by Moeneeb Josephs into the path of Nkosi, who was unable to direct his attempt on target.

At the other end former Chiefs player Onismor Bhasera was proving to be a real menace down the left. He made a driving run through the defence before unleashing an effort at goal, but Itumeleng Khune was up the task.

Nkhatha, who hasn’t been a crowd favourite to say the least, missed an absolute sitter in the 29th minute. Tshabalala set up the sturdy striker, but he somehow directed his effort from a few yards out wide.

Bernard Parker and Bhasera missed a few more chance before the break, before Nkhatha redeemed himself straight after the restart - heading past Josephs from Parker’s cross.

Morgan Gould was lucky not to have been sent for an early shower on the hour-mark following a clear left hook at Getaneh Kebede, but Wits’ night did improve on 66 minutes when Chapman converted Matthew Booth’s pass.

Wits looked the stronger of the two sides in the final minutes, but it was Chiefs who stole the points.

Substitutes George Lebese and Majoro combined, with the latter’s heading coming back off the woodwork, only for Josephs to parry the rebound into the back of the net.

The PSL has since confirmed to KickOff.com that the goal will be awarded to Majoro.

Chiefs remain in sixth spot, while Wits slip down to fifth.

Ow ja before I forget , We will see the "vuvuzela assassin" in todays game I got his contact and he told me that he is more than willing to vuvuzela baxter,Ncowtha and Doctor in todays match.

I cant wait to see the "vuvuzela assassin" doing his thing.
