University of Pretoria vs Mamelodi Sundowns scores

Posted: 9 November 2013 Time: 17:41

Mamelodi Sundowns have extended their lead at the top of the League standings after a 3-1 win at University Of Pretoria on Saturday night.

Goals from Cuthbert Malajila, Khama Billiat and Rodney Ramagalela helped the Brazilians take the honours in the first Tshwane derby of the season, while Grant Kekana replied with the only goal for AmaTuks.

Sundowns opened the scoring in just the third minute when Malajila volleyed into the roof of the net from Billiat’s cross.

However, AmaTuks were back in the game in the seventh minute when Kekana sneaked in ahead of his marker to side-foot home from Khethukuthula Zwane’s corner.

Malajila should have grabbed his brace in the 13th minute when he ran onto a through-ball from Hlompho Kekana, but this time he shot wide.

But Billiat made no mistake though in the 29th minute when he was released by a long ball from Bongani Zungu, showing his composure to tuck the ball past Washinton Arubi and into the bottom right corner.

The hosts had an opportunity to level matters again in the 41st minute, but Zwane sent his shot just wide.

Billiat fired a weak effort at Arubi in the 47th minute, but the game changed again in the 59th minute when the hosts were reduced to 10 men, with Mpho Matsi receiving his second caution of the match.

Arubi pulled off a great save in the 67th minute to parry a dipping free-kick from Kekana, but there was still no luck for his side at the opposite end.

Ronald Ketjijere fired over the crossbar from outside the box in the 78th minute, while Mpho Maruping flashed an effort wide of goal in the 86th minute.

Pitso Mosimane’s side finally killed the game off in the third minute of added-time when substitute Ramagalela snuck in at the far post to nudge the ball in after Malajila had been unselfish enough to set him up.

Sundowns remain at the summit of the log with 20 points from nine matches, while AmaTuks are in 13th place with eight points.

My Sundowns playing dangerously only last for 45 minutes. The score can be deceiving. Sundowns defending for 45 minutes against 10 men that's not on

Congratulations boys. My fellow Downs supporters and I are happy. Consistency is what make us worry all the time. Let's hope we keep on winning because we don't know what's gonna happen during January transfer window.

Kaizer Chiefs have registered 23 players in 2013/2014 season, they did not want to break the PSL rules like what sundowns did, they are still convinced that Aces broke the rules by playing Khanyeza, if we were all chiefs supporters we will be living in a crime free South Africa, as for me and my family KBY we just say " Higher and higher" to them we say be careful or else you will break the rules.

If you think we breaking the rules, then you also think everybody in the psl including all soccer teams, journalists, commentators, presenters and even us supporters are complete and utter idiots who cant see that sundowns is not complying with psl laws. Something wrong with that picture i think.

Very poor in the second half especially because we out-numbered them. We were attacked more than we were attacking. We got to put on the squeeze in situation like this. We decide to defend when we were supposed to attack.
