Posted: 30 October 2013 Time: 16:36

Legendary football administrator and PSL Life President Dr Leepile Taunyane has passed away, at the age of 85.

RIP: PSL Life President Leepile Taunyane

A PSL statement reads: “It is with sadness and regret that we inform you of the passing of the PSL Life President, Dr Leepile Taunyane.

“The PSL Executive Committee (EXCO) will meet with the family tomorrow.”

Taunyane began his career in Alexandra as a football administator in the 1960s, where he also mentored a young Irvin Khoza, in the 1970s.

Despite his advanced years, Taunyane's commitment to football was strongly in evidence, as he still went to work at the PSL offices every day.

KickOff.com sends condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in peace.

May His soul rest in peace. When one thinks of Mr Taunyane, one sees a Leader, a Mentor, not forgetting that he was a Principal/Teacher by profession. He worked tireless for the community at large mostly the less fortunate, I can't think beyond the Iwisa/Telkom charity spectacular tournament (some not so bright sparks put and end to it). You'll be sadly missed Sir.

I am still shocked......What a loss to our football...What a great man.....

Spoke to him at the PSL offices not so long ago....

He has given many of us especially young people opportunities in football when many gave us the cold shoulder.

Ntate Taunyane.......Rest in Peace.....We will continue with the work you left us with....We will make you proud.

I salute this man.....Our football will never be the same without this man....What a humble man.

Alexandra/Gomora Township has lost a great man.

Siyabonga Dr Taunyane.

How on earth did you manage all this - with soccer, soccer administration, running the Alex Liaison Committee and being a full-time teacher as well as being heavily involved in a whole series of teachers' organisations?

You are leaving out the fact that I am also married with five children! My life has been one in which the main thing has been to work hard, help your family, and serve the community. If ever I was criticised, all I could say is that I have always remained in areas where I could serve the community. Those are the things that are really important to me.

Just a small quote from the link you provided Phefeni my chief, thank you. My own father always said "A man can never work hard enough".
