Telkom Knockout quarter-final Orlando Pirates 3-0 Golden Arrows

Posted: 23 October 2013 Time: 17:37

Lennox Bacela bagged a hat-trick as Orlando Pirates destroyed Golden Arrows 4-0 in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

The ex-Bloemfontein Celtic man was joined on the scoresheet by strike partner Kermit Erasmus in a consummate display by the CAF Champions League finalists at Orlando Stadium.

After the game, the Buccaneers were drawn to face SuperSport United in Tshwane in the semi-finals of the domestic event on November 20.

Bucs' fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who they visit in the League on Saturday, will enjoy home advantage in the other last-four tie with Platinum Stars on November 2.

Pirates dominated against Abafana Bes'thende from the onset, and took an early lead as Bacela headed home Khethowakhe Masuku's right-wing cross 11 minutes in.

Man of the Match Bacela turned provider in the 34th minute, as he headed another telling delivery from Masuku towards Erasmus, who volleyed into the far corner in emphatic fashion.

Bacela struck again in the 42nd minute after smartly converting a through ball by Oupa Manyisa.

Bacela got his team's final goal with a simple finish in the 57th minute, with Erasmus providing the assist.

The hosts continued to press in the latter stages, with Erasmus in particular coming close to heaping further misery on Arrows.

@ CJB Ramses III,

It is not grudges that I have against Lucky but it is the mentality that we have as South Africans to defend things like what Lucky did. He was offside & must therefore be judged in accordance with the rules of employment. He can't be Majoro & KC by being rewarded with the Carling Black Label Cup form an offside position.

Manyisa reminds me of Dungi. He was also overlooked by SA journos and Barker. When he was given his chance he never looked back

Hehehe.... No Dr Mgu'..... I agree he was offside... I'm not defending him..... I'm saying a mistake was made... he apologised... Got punished... what more...?

Are we so loyally comcerned & "obsessed" about power balances of the factory floor that we overlook our conscious and humanity...?

No Dr Mgu'.... Release... you're baring an unnecessary yoke...

@ CJB Ramses III,

My Pharaoh, the reason I keep on emphasizing Lucky's naughty & foolish deeds is that when ever Pirates play & its mentioned that he won't play, some of us question the decision of our technical team irrespective of the facts on the table. We insult, undermine & demotivate those who would play in his absence & even fail to acknowledge their impaccable form & positive contribution, all in the name of Lucky. Others are even waiting on the wings to hurl insults to RDS & call for his demise should we lose... Lucky's self-made problem being the trigger...

I hope that you will understand that its not entirely about Lucky but principle....The days of "an injury to one is an injury to all" are gone. We live in a new age of productivity & competitiveness hence my skewed view of the factory floor. The likes of Lucky must adapt or die... tl, tl, tl....

This Masuku boy is good but should learn to release the ball to other players not to try to score even on impossible positions...Creating scoring chances for others can also get you in good books ma boy, All the best Mabhakaniya
