Telkom Knockout quarter-final Orlando Pirates 3-0 Golden Arrows

Posted: 23 October 2013 Time: 17:37

Lennox Bacela bagged a hat-trick as Orlando Pirates destroyed Golden Arrows 4-0 in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

The ex-Bloemfontein Celtic man was joined on the scoresheet by strike partner Kermit Erasmus in a consummate display by the CAF Champions League finalists at Orlando Stadium.

After the game, the Buccaneers were drawn to face SuperSport United in Tshwane in the semi-finals of the domestic event on November 20.

Bucs' fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who they visit in the League on Saturday, will enjoy home advantage in the other last-four tie with Platinum Stars on November 2.

Pirates dominated against Abafana Bes'thende from the onset, and took an early lead as Bacela headed home Khethowakhe Masuku's right-wing cross 11 minutes in.

Man of the Match Bacela turned provider in the 34th minute, as he headed another telling delivery from Masuku towards Erasmus, who volleyed into the far corner in emphatic fashion.

Bacela struck again in the 42nd minute after smartly converting a through ball by Oupa Manyisa.

Bacela got his team's final goal with a simple finish in the 57th minute, with Erasmus providing the assist.

The hosts continued to press in the latter stages, with Erasmus in particular coming close to heaping further misery on Arrows.

Why is RDS not quoted in this article?  How did Tiyani come to the conclusion that Lucky is not part of match day squard?

Please rest Manyisa. That boy has played every minute of every match this season. Even when we are leading 3-1 you don't substitute him. Please rest him before he gets injured.

This foolish obsession with loyalty, rights to voice your opinion & individuals must stop.

LOYALTY.... Whenever people talk of Lucky they say he was / is loyal to Pirates but they forget that Pirates has also been loyal to him & the fact that this so-called "loyalty relationship" has been built on employment premise. Lucky get paid by Pirates & is therefore bound & forced to be loyal..."you can't bite the hand that feeds you". By going to the media Lucky undermined & trampled upon the same loyalty that you guys preach about. As a professional, captain & the oldest employee at Pirates, he was supposed to follow the right channel if he felt aggrieved, the same way players talk to him in the event they have issues with the management of the team.

LOYALTY Cont:

If you talk about loyalty at Pirates no one comes near to Bazooka Seshweni. he played for the love of the team. he was one of the greatest players of his generation. At home in defense as well as Middlefield & had a snack for not only creating goals but scored many. He was approached by many teams but he remained at Pirates even though he was not paid for months. His contribution was never questioned in the field of play even though his family questioned why Pirates has not paid his salary again month after month.Pirates lost players such as Ace Khuse but he remained, the resurrection & success of Pirates after Khoza took charge of the team can be attributed to Nick. The team of Killer Maake, Dan Dance, Ayashisamateki & others was built on the battle scarred back of this captain. A Pirates through & through.... So who is Lucky?

My issue is not so much with whether lucky plays on not, rather transparency, the club must come forward and state as to why the player hasn't played a single game ever since the daily sun rant. A week ago b4 the team left for tunisia it was said that he was being spared for tonight and saturday's game. Now supporters find out he is not in the team for tonight's game. Someone within the club's management must set the record straight so that even the biased media such as K.O stops all this huffing and puffing.

Hope to see Masuku play. If anyone among KO bloggers know Masuku from his playing days on the dusty streets of Orlando, aka Bereza, u would know that guy is a genius with the ball. he just needs game time. When it comes to skill and intelligence on the ball Bereza is 2nd to none!

Obsession 2: Right to voice your opinion.

In an employment environment this right does not exist to employees unless done through proper channel. Employees get suspended & even fired in the event of ill-speaking their employers or talking on behalf of the organization without authorization.

The Nonkonyane saga is a perfect example. Whether or not his utterance is correct is neither here nor there but issue of contention is speaking without being sanctioned to do so & in the press nogal....

OBSISSION3:

We tend to worship individuals like gods instead of doing so for the team. Lucky's performance in the ACL has been average. He almost eliminated Pirates single handedly through his 3 penalties he cost, the game against Leopards was a nightmare for his that should have sent him to the bench instead of his Daily Sun saga.. But since if is LUCKY, people do not question his mediocre contribution to the team. Instead we demotivate other players over & over again because we are obsessed with an INDIVIDUAL. Pirates is not Lucky, the same way Jomo or Kaizer were not but an institution. Let us therefore respect the institution & be obsessed with it instead of an individual that come & go like all formers player at Pirates.

Bad mouthing the hand that feeds u is a serious offense. All PSL should learn that playing 2 the media's gallery is unacceptable. Players r not club's owners n can't do as it pleases them. They r all bound the the clubs code of ethics.

@ Fumigator,

O.Pirates transparently indicated that they will call Lucky to a DC. He did not attend citing the death of his aunt. He therefore, missed training which meant that players who were training had to be given a chance to play. Gcaba & Nsimbi played well in his absence. Again in a transparent manner, Pirates continued to repay those who play well by giving the a place in the starting 11. So what is the problem because we always cry for consistant selection & that players must fight for positions...is Lucky immune to that?

What also interest me about the death of his aunt is that like all players & the irony thereoff is that, had Lucky been promised a starting place in the next game, he would have played citing that he "dedicates the game" to his aunt.

I now changed my profile pic back to Phola Schacha and to my surprise....all the profile pics on my comments have changed to the new one....am also talking about the comments I made while I had a bed as a profile pic.

If someone now checks the previous comments, it no longer makes sense and the jokes are no-longer funny because they cant link what Phefeni and Ginofeelo are talking about to my new Profile

fix this mess tuuu

PS. I wont change my profile pic to a bed again, I had enough, LOL
