Telkom Knockout quarter-final Orlando Pirates 3-0 Golden Arrows

Posted: 23 October 2013 Time: 17:37

Lennox Bacela bagged a hat-trick as Orlando Pirates destroyed Golden Arrows 4-0 in a Telkom Knockout quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

The ex-Bloemfontein Celtic man was joined on the scoresheet by strike partner Kermit Erasmus in a consummate display by the CAF Champions League finalists at Orlando Stadium.

After the game, the Buccaneers were drawn to face SuperSport United in Tshwane in the semi-finals of the domestic event on November 20.

Bucs' fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs, who they visit in the League on Saturday, will enjoy home advantage in the other last-four tie with Platinum Stars on November 2.

Pirates dominated against Abafana Bes'thende from the onset, and took an early lead as Bacela headed home Khethowakhe Masuku's right-wing cross 11 minutes in.

Man of the Match Bacela turned provider in the 34th minute, as he headed another telling delivery from Masuku towards Erasmus, who volleyed into the far corner in emphatic fashion.

Bacela struck again in the 42nd minute after smartly converting a through ball by Oupa Manyisa.

Bacela got his team's final goal with a simple finish in the 57th minute, with Erasmus providing the assist.

The hosts continued to press in the latter stages, with Erasmus in particular coming close to heaping further misery on Arrows.

It's strange that Tiyani stresses LLL omition from the team as if he owns the position. De Sa did mention that he was going to use LLL sparingly this season so what is the fuss about? How many players are not played and there is never a question about them...Pirates can even rest all the guys that played in Tunisia it is within their rights. Why you never ask Chiefs or Baxter where is Rusike and co?

KO, get it into your head that Lucky is not Pirates & the fact that Pirates has more than 30 players who do not have a place in the starting 11. So this obsession with whether or not Lucky plays while Gcaba for example played well does not argue well for a soccer magazine that should be part of developing our football & its professionalization.

Where is the ideal that we all should live for in football, i.e. "fair play"? Are you fair to player like Gcaba who should be rewarded because he played well in his last few games or Mahamutsa who have been consistent? You are the same rubbish that calls for a coach to be fired should he not field players based on their performance but partiality.

You are a soccer magazine not daily sun nor a gossip column.

Why are you (KO staff) not emphasizing the absence of Majoro or Mathoho in every article you write about KC?

In the last few articles about Sundowns like you do against Pirates, you have been emphasizing the absence of Modise or his benching thereoff which an intension to create a storm & the questioning of Pitso's decision should Downs lose or draw their game.

Lekgwathi just needs to thank the Chairman again and again for support over the years then he will be reinstated. He must also continue to thank the Orlando Pirates supporters like he always does in his speeches then he will be reinstated not forgetting to thank the coach for giving him an opportunity in the past...

Damn, some speeches are just boring..............especially coming from a captain of a big team !
