Nomadic midfielder-cum-striker Lucky Maselesele has become the latest player to sneak into newly-promoted Absa Premiership side Maritzburg United’s pre-season camp.
Maselesele’s contract at FC AK, where he showed fantastic form over the past six months, is set to expire at the end of the month.
“Lucky is on trial at Maritzburg. They liked what they saw of him during the play-offs,” says Mario Atakligan, the player’s manager.
“Everybody can see the difference in his play now; he is playing to his true potential and knows what he wants. Even his former club in Cyprus has shown an interest in getting him back, but his priority at the moment is a move back to the PSL.
“Maselesele is concentrating on Maritzburg United, but there are other options for him. He wants to play in the PSL and that is what I hope he attains this season.”
The School of Excellence graduate says he is aiming for a PSL return.
“My contract with FC AK expires at the end of the month and they haven’t offered me a new deal as yet though they have told me they want to keep me.
“I am sure that I will definitely be playing in the PSL this season because that is where I want to be,” says ‘Romza’ as Maselesele is popularly known.
The much travelled 28-year-old has been at Kaizer Chiefs three times and has also had stints at Seven Stars, Manning Rangers, Zulu Royals, Black Leopards, City Pillars, Thanda Royal Zulu and Yenicami Agdelen of Cyprus.
