Clinton Larsen Bloemfontein Celtic Mamelodi Sundowns Telkom Knockout

Posted: 6 October 2013 Time: 22:02

Clinton Larsen says goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb will recover after Bloemfontein Celtic's 4-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

Larsen was understandably not pleased with the way Celtic performed in the last 16 clash.

“We were totally outclassed by a very good team team, so the boys must dust themselves off now,” the coach says.

“The first 45 minutes they got behind us once when Bryce Moon crossed for the third goal.

“For the first goal we gifted them with a clearance from the goalkeeper, and the second goal came from a free-kick we gave away in a very dangerous area. I don't think we did enough. We were average and we got punished for that.”

Larsen believes Tignyemb has the character to bounce back from his poor performance.

Tignyemb was at fault for the first goal, but Larsen says goalkeeping errors get overblown.

“He made two or three mistakes this season. They always got blown out of proportion just because it is the goalkeepers.

“But Patrick is a very strong character and will bounce back from this.”

Good now that you can close your mouth. You were saying you know Sundowns' weakness just before kick-off,now,you better know that you knew nothing about the Brazilians. They destroyed you 3-0 in a league match and now;4-0!!!!!! This is a different side from the one you robbed last season in the final of the same cup Baba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now if a goalkeeper is crying instead of saving goals then he has challenges. Anyway celtic did not sign properly this time.

I don't agree on the fact that Larsen should leave. I concur with the guys who say not enough material was purchased by Celtic this season. I'm a Downs fan but I think Larson is a good coach if you give him the right tools to work with.
