Dikwena too much for Maritzburg

Platinum Stars scored twice in the second half to knock Maritzburg United out of the Telkom Knockout on Saturday.
In a scorching hot North West Province, Dikwena continued their fine cup form, after their MTN8 triump over Orlando Pirates last weekend.
It was so hot that the match was stopped twice in each half to allow the players a water break.
Maritzburg skipper Michael Morton had a gilt-edged chance in the second minute, but could not keep his shot down.
Robert Ng’ambi forced Shu-Aib Walters into a great save a few minutes later. The goalkeeper stretched full length to parry the shot wide of goal.
Thokozani Sekotlong was next to test the Marizburg keeper, after some sluggish United defending, but his shot was not powerful enough to trouble Walters much.
Stars made Maritzburg run for the ball, and took advantage of their fatigue in the second half.
Henrico Botes opened the scoring after a through ball from Mduduzi Nyanda, beating his man and firing past Walters at the near post.
Ng’ambi doubled the hosts’ lead on the hour mark, coolly passing the ball into the net with his left to earn another Man of the Match award.
Ruben Cloete (concussion) and Morton (cut on hand) were both sent to hospital during the match, and the club is awaiting an update on their condition.
