Telkom Knockout match report: Bloemfontein Celtic vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 6 October 2013 Time: 14:13

It was sweet revenge for Mamelodi Sundowns, who ended Bloemfontein Celtic’s hopes of defending the Telkom Knockout by thrashing them 4-0 on Sunday.

Dove Wome opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and forced the second, an own goal from Limbikani Mzava, three minutes later, while Khama Billiat added a brace.

Patrick Tignyemb was at fault for both of the opening goals. First, his poor clearance allowed Wome to fire a low ball into the back of the net.

Soon after, Wome’s set-piece took a deflection off Mzava’s head to beat him at his near post.

Billiat nearly made it 3-0 on 24 minutes, when his lob sailed just over the crossbar.

Seconds later Ruzaigh Gamildien tried a long range shot that went narrowly wide.

Billiat volleyed home from Bryce Moon’s high cross on the byline to put the score beyond doubt on the half-hour mark.

The Zimbabwean almost had a second when he hit over the crossbar from three yards out, but was blown for offside anyway.

And Billiat made it 4-0 just three minutes into the second half, after Malajila held the ball up nicely before tapping it through to his red-hot teammate, who slotted past Tignyemb.

Joel Mogorosi had a shot comfortably saved by Kennedy Mweene on 77 minutes, in what was the goalkeeper’s first real touch of the match.

As the game drew to a close, the pace drifted off and Sundowns went on to extract revenge over their Telkom Knockout loss against Celtic in the Final last season.

Billiat is a class of his own.

Pitso will never learn, his post match leaves a lot to be desired.

Downs is 89% foreign based players in the starting eleven.

Mighty Bucs is 100% local based players and conquering Africa.

Zebras is 80% Zimbabwean and plays Javelin.

Bosso ke Mang?

Up the Bucs!

Mind you when Sundowns wins, it wins convincingly and when it plays crap you will even just think its one of those small teams like Maritzburg. You better get you consistency in order before ordering to be matched with Amakhosi. Good display of football today in anyways

True that Bucaneer, I'm also a bit concern about Sundowns and its patience to players! Some of them you will even think they are just on holidays there and they are not jut players but very good one. Where is Pelembe vele, does Mokoena still have a place the if Teko is on the bench? Is it done deal with Masenamela and can Sangwene still compete in that middle field? Its just too many questions which seems not to have answers but answers are there with someone!

Look at Mangele now at Swallows, it just show that Sundowns didn't really have patience with him. And as for unexistance of Mphela on Pitso's presence- I don't know!

What did Pitso say in post match interview?

Hahaaa don't be ahead of yoursel, who even said winning a quadra against Celtics is guaranteeing you a final? And as for Pirates, Psl is confusing the other than Caf they can't get their way right with it. I'd look out for PS and SSU if I were you and you are not stable enough to be facing Amakhosi right now. Don't be eluded by the scoreline today

Sundows seem to be getting itself right but still it needs to get itself in order. The fact that when things don't go their way and there's no one to carry the whole team is a concern, but so is Chiefs and other small teams. Pirates has Segolela, Jali and Lekgwathi to do that.

It used to have Teko who now it seems like he's old to be doing that and Chiefs just didn't have anyone whom I can relate to that job. In anyway, we shall see, the season is still young and there's Bukenya in store

They're talking about sundowns and u just have to bring ur team into the picture. Just congratulate sundowns and stop comparing teams. Learn the relevancy of the topic before commenting. Again ur stats are lying. E.g. Mbesuma is not a South African n he's registered for ACL
