Polokwane City vs Kaizer Chiefs Telkom Knockout Cup

Posted: 5 October 2013 Time: 19:39

Kaizer Chiefs cruised into the Telkom Knockout Cup quarterfinals after a 3-0 drubbing of Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.

Amakhosi had led 1-0 at the break courtesy of Tefu Mashamaite's header, and the centre-back added another in similar fashion from a corner-kick on 68 minutes.

Knowledge Musona made sure of the win four minutes later, running onto Morgan Gould's long-ball before chipping the on-rushing Galabgwe Moyana.

The first chance fell to the visitors in the third minute when George Lebese left the ball for Reneilwe Letsholonyane, but Nkueni Mayala made a good save at the near post.

Then in the 16th minute Itumeleng Khune was forced into action to tip a powerful strike from Thabo Rakhale over the crossbar.

Amakhosi took the lead in the 34th minute when Mashamaite met Bernard Parker’s corner at the near post to nod past as stranded Mayala.

Mayala did stop Chiefs from taking a two-goal lead into the break when he denied Musona from close range in the first minute of added time.

The visitors threatened to double their lead in the 53rd minute, but Kingston Nkhatha volleyed over the crossbar after the ball fell for him at the far post from a corner.

Siphesihle Nzimande had a chance at the other end six minutes later but his header was blocked by Morgan Gould, while his second effort went straight to Khune.

Then on the hour-mark Million Mkhabela did well to clear the ball over the line after Tsepo Masilela had chipped over Mayala, while Letsholonyane missed a sitter six minutes later.

However, Mashamaite gave Amakhosi some breathing space in the 66th minute with another headed goal from Parker’s corner.

Chiefs put the result beyond doubt in the 74th minute when Musona beat Mayala with a lobbed effort after running onto a long pass from Gould.

Khosi lam...I am starting to question Doctor's role in that bench. Is he a Yes-man like Tebogo too?

Yeye is very wasteful. The thing that irritates most is that he is able to get into good spaces better than most. His finishing is atrocious. Against Ethiopia, Nigeria even CAR. If he was not getting into these position then we don't have anybody to threaten. I wish the technical team is rectifying that. As for bringing young players into the team everybody knows what happen to Mushin when he bench bo Tsikitsi and Skoko . We have lost only 2 games and against  SS they played very well until they concede. As for Doctor and the coach I always seeing then engaging.  You don't want a rebel on the technical team. You need to trust the lead coach and the coach is always honest when he is interviewed. We see the game as we do sometimes. And everybody knows my view about Nkhatha.

I strongly believe that Shaba's best position is the middle of the park, playing a free role, do you agree?

Back Page Hahahha ,  I wonder what was the reason Chiefs didnt play in the finals of MTN 8?

I honestly think Chiefs fans can be really Naive at times, likes they are watching and supporting chiefs through the eyes of a smll child.
You get told you dont have players , you scream bobby.. Then they tell u you play boring soccer and u want the coach gone,, When will you wake up and start thinking on your own. be your own man and think. Ted say this and you buy it... No wonder they laugh at you , You lack a backbone and cant look at facts...

We beat Celtics by 4 they called it a fluke win and you  were  critical.
Sundowns beat celtics by 4 and everyone is saying watch out hahahah...

Pirates  luckily beat Polokwane  City by 1 nil.
But when Chiefs buries City kuthiwa yhinyokefile.

Wake up madoda and support your team.

Exactly my point Khosi, we supporters we are easily influenced by outside people and used to turn against our beloved team. Let us support our team whole heartedly without wavering and when the time is right we will see the other players introduced and will have time to settle nicely without putting pressure of winning at all cost to them. But for now the senior players must steer the team to the right direction.
